I have severe memory impairment

I appreciate the suggestions and your concern. Until the heart failure incident, I only took the smallest amount (0.5 mg) occasionally for a good night sleep, specifically because if I took it consistently for more than a week or so, I would notice that my memory would suffer. If it hadn't been for the heart incident, I'd still be taking the 0.5 mg only occasionally. The hospital I stayed in for 5 days after the heart failure incident didn't help by giving me 1.0 mg of Lorazepam every night in order to sleep well. Now, when I don't take it (every 3rd day), like last night, I struggle terribly to get a decent night sleep. I've tried other medications in order to sleep better but I suffer even worse during the off day.
There are many safe sleep supplements available both conventional and holistic. Just keep experimenting until you find one that works. When your body starts getting used to it, switch to something similar but different.

Unfortunately, you already have a medication addiction. And you need to get out of this vicious cycle of medication. Change your doctor and put this problem squarely at the top of your concerns.

My doctor once told me that tranquilizers or antidepressants can be used for about three days without consequences and not longer. No illusions, we all realize that they are addictive.

I have recently even changed my attitude to wine. I began to dilute it one to three, or with pomegranate juice, or with non-alcoholic wine, sometimes with lingonberry juice. So that the strength is no higher than 4%. And I drink it no more than 1 -2 times a week. Dependence on drugs or alcohol should always be avoided. Addiction creeps up unnoticed.

If I were you I'd be looking for groups online for long-Covid patients. I looked up some resources for you. I have heard there are some Facebook groups, but be cautious about joining. Be sure they are legit, especially if they ask you for donations or lots of personal information. Facebook has scams just like so many other social media sites do.

I wonder if it is possible to have long Covid without ever having been diagnosed with Covid? There was a time when I was sick for a couple of days but without fever. Now I have heart and lung problems with extreme shortness of breath. Cardiologist sends me to pulmonologist and the reverse. Primary doctor sends me to both of the others. Sorry if this is off topic but I am baffled. Probably no connection to Covid.

Hi Kir7. Thanks for your input. Here in BC (and the rest of Canada) there is a serious doctor shortage and many people can't even get a doctor. I had been planning on finding a new doctor several years ago but then it suddenly became impossible to find any doctor accepting new patients. If I didn't currently have so many other health issues to deal with (which are likely the result of contracting long-Covid), I would have made the medication addiction the priority.

I know of at least three people who have had covid easily and without the slightest signs, with one of them being 73 years old, in poor health, but the coronovirus ignored him. He tested once and it was covid positive, but he didn't even have a problem with his sense of smell. It was discovered by accident.

I had covid easily, but my sense of smell was gone for more than a month. And as I wrote, now there are consequences - distorted perception of flavors and memory problems. And no doctor can't tell us all what "surprises" to expect in the future.

Hi, chameleonic. I did not know that Canada has such a situation with medicine. I wish you to find a competent and attentive doctor soon. It is a big problem to find such a doctor, even among a large number of docs, but there are chances - the main thing is to keep looking.
