Amazon is sponsoring to Happy School Year. If you have Alexa, just ask her to "Donate to A Happy School Year". She then picks out a back pack, describes it to you, gives you the price (less than $25) and asks if you want to place the order. If you do, the order is placed, on your behalf. Amazon will "match" your donation by filling each backpack with school supplies sich as paper, pens, pencils, notebooks, etc and send sit on th the central location. So, once I placed the order, I do not need to do anything else.

Here is a link to an explaination of the promotion Happy School Year

Going back only a few years, there was a program in my area called "Fill The Bus." The residents around the area could donate new tablets, pens, pencils, protractors, rulers, erasers and anything else used in school. We could also donate new and gently used coats. That program stopped maybe 5 years ago and I never heard another word about it. As I remember it, a local TV station sponsored the program. It was said to have helped a lot of kids.

What intrigues me is that I know the program was successful, so why was it stopped?
