I Just Like to Torture Myself...

Sometimes I just have to sneak a peek at Petfinder. I know Sophie is just graying and could be around for several more years. But maybe it's like window shopping. You can't have what you see, but no harm in just looking. I'll tell you though...if my girl hadn't turned into a dog aggressive nutjob THIS little girl would already be home with us. Look at that beautiful face, what a smile:love_heart: She's a puggle.

I have an idea how you feel, fur. I have been shopping online for one of these ;) lol

About 10 years ago I had one pony like these four; all I needed was three more and the coach!

Something funny, I showed my younger boy and he basically laughed "She's tripping balls yo, look at those eyes!" then mentioned a resemblance to Crash Bandicoot...yeah I see it, but I could love her anyway. Probably how I got my resident basket case Sophie, a cute picture online...

I have sworn that my two current fur children (Hoot the toy poodle and Annie the Shih Tzu) are my last two. I'm 70 years old and I'll probably outlive Annie (she's 15) but Hoot is only 12 and could easily live another 8 or 9 years.

But I am Facebook "friends" with Poodle & Pooch Rescue of Florida and Shih Tzu Rescue of Florida and some of the pictures make me want to adopt, oh, about 10 more little critters. But I won't. I swear.

But I won't. I swear.

Oh sure, but if Soph passed in her sleep tomorrow I'd have a litter of kittens and the dog in this post by nightfall...

My girl is aging - and probably doesn't have too many more years ahead of her. I just know that I won't be around long enough to bring up a puppy - I am aging too, but I have to take a real good hard look at the more senior dogs that are available.

The dogs I have raised from puppy-hood have not had health, nor obedience nor house training problems - I've put in the long hard hours required to make them really acceptable citizens of the doggy world.

Some of the older dogs I have seen, that are ready for adoption have a few problems. They haven't had the necessary health checks throughout their lives - need teeth problems attended to, or are ones who need to be fed special food because of other health problems.

Not really sure of what I can do, but I know I do want a dog in my life.

See I adopted Sophie as an adult. They talk about separation anxiety? My poor girl, whatever happened in her prior life I'll never know. But she bonded from day one like concrete. It's been maybe eight years and she still will whine if I'm in the bathroom too long. My son wants his back scratched and she'll worm her way between us...she did that tonight in fact. But really Granny there are so many "normal" senior pups out there...keep that in mind.
