I just realised I can't remember my mothers' voice any more

My mom passed when I was 12. She was 40. CANCER SUCKS. This puts me at 51 years since I last saw my mom. I remember how she looked and her favorite hobby. Her voice and actions are lost for the most part. I can remember she made an excellent goulash.

Exactly . Isn't it odd..that we can remember how they looked..altho' I have photos.. but I remember anyway. We can remember what they wore, what were their favourite things.. the things they used to use, even the things they told us.. yet not the actual sound of their voice if we have no prompts, like a recording..

It's 51 years for me too this year since I lost my mum

I'll never forget my mother's voice. I heard it yell at me so much when I was younger. Besides, I have her voice on an old cassette tape that was in an answering machine.

I can still remember both Mum and Dad's voices. They had distinct accents because they lived in India for the first 30 years of their lives. People used to think they were from Wales. But they were from Scottish and Irish stock. Dad had a lovely Irish tenor voice and I have many tapes of him singing. He loved to sing every Sunday in the church choir and would entertain the old people in nursing homes. They loved to have sing-a-longs on a Saturday night and invite the neighbours in. They were the "GOOD OLD DAYS".

My mother had a fairly moderate Glasgow accent unless she was beating the living daylights out of me and bombarding me with Glaswegian slang. She died in '93 or '94 can't remember the date, of Parkinsons disease'

MY mum was a Dundonian.. but of course we didn't hear that any different to our West end Glaswegian accents...

Welsh and Indian/Pakistani English... is very similar.. so when British people try to mimic a Welsh accent. the often descend into Indian...

yes we never noticed the difference between my mothers' accent and ours...
