I learned a new word

Not in Merriam Webster, so I can't use it in the Word of the Day.

Cathemeral - refers to an animal activity pattern where an organism is active sporadically at irregular intervals during both the day and night, rather than being strictly nocturnal (night) or diurnal (day). This strategy allows animals to be flexible in their activity to respond to environmental factors such as food availability, temperature, or predation pressure. Examples of cathemeral animals include some species of lemurs, coyotes, and raccoons
