Not sure if anyone else had to battle with their partner about what 'stuff' to put
up on a wall denoting your military career.

Soon after we got our house here in Nashville, the wife said I should put up my pictures, shadow boxes,
awards, etc. up on the wall.

I explained that when I was active, we called this display an 'I Love Me' wall.
Just that somethings are just too personal for others to see and might not understand.

We comprised and gave a lot of it to both our sons, on the off-chance it might be
important to them.

Kept some, but they are in special tote.

When my oldest passed, his wife gave them back to me, but asked if she could keep a couple.
No problem, as she is still a very important part of our lives.

Now everytime I clean out a box of old stuff, my youngest is asked if he wants it.

I have my rating badge and the ships name badge in a frame on the wall. Next to is it is a photo of me standing next to one of the ships main propulsion diesels. This all dates back to the late 50s.

My Grandfather was presented with an M.B.E. medal for his services in the Indian Police. My mother said it would go to the eldest child in our families', so my son inherited it. Because he is always travelling around the place, I have mounted it in a lovely frame with a story from the newspapers pasted on the back.
