I love this life...

Good evening to all- I just got back from a "working" trip to Florida. I went fishing. I had to get photos and information for magazine articles. I hooked a good tarpon- about 100 pounds or so- and my buddy who is a better fisherman than I am caught two tarpon- both about 130 pounds. It was fun, but fish of that size are very difficult to catch.
Also, I bought a Powerball lottery ticket while there- we can't do that gambling thing in Alabama where I live, you see- so I will check the numbers and confirm that I won the gazzilion dollar first prize.
Let's be honest, the closest I ever came to winning any lottery was in 1972 when I almost won the first birthday to be called for the draft to go to Viet Nam lottery- my birthday was the third in line- thank God for college deferments-
But if I won, you can be sure I'll remember my friends here on the Senior Forums- you can drive by and look at my mega-yacht and mansion anytime- just don't block the driveway- thanks-
Good evening to all- Ed

Good job on the tarpon! My husband loves tarpon fishing. The first time he hooked one his knees started shaking so badly he had to sit down.

I hope you win the powerball!

I would like to catch a tarpon...after seeing how they fight on some of the TV shows. I went fishing off the Miami coast a few times when the company had its annual awards ceremony at the Fontainebleu Hotel, and the charter boat usually took us to an area where there was a submerged wreck, and we would catch a bunch of Amberjack. Those fish were fun and put up a good fight, but nothing compared to what a tarpon would do. One time, there was a freighter hung up on a sandbar, waiting for high tide, and sharks were swimming all around it. We joined a couple of other boats, and caught some hammer head sharks....I brought one in that was almost 9 ft. long. That was a Hoot!

Good morning to all- Don- we caught a small hammerhead while there- maybe six feet long. Ugly fish.
What part of Missouri do you reside in? We used to live just south of Rolla for a long time. Very nice place, Missouri is, but I don't miss the winters at all.
Now, I have another fishing trip for this weekend coming up- spending Friday and Saturday out at sea- I love overnight trips on the Gulf- I get to see- and sometimes catch- the most incredible fish. I have been ordered by the powers that be to bring home some fresh tuna for grilling.
I hope you all have a great day- Ed

We're in the middle of the State...Morgan County...about 75 miles North of the Rolla area....on 40 acres of deep forest. I used to have a nice Ranger Bass Boat, and fished for Muskie on Lake Pomme de Terre for years. I've got a nice 46" Muskie mounted above my computer desk...kept it because the lure was caught in its gills, and it would have died if released. Anymore, I just go fishing for walleye and catfish with one of the Son-in-laws a few times a year at their lake house on the Lake of the Ozarks. I've been to several places in the nation, and Missouri suits us pretty well...a month of excessive heat in the Summer, and a few weeks of bitter cold in the Winter, but overall quite nice.
