I went to the Salvation Army store I haven't been to in well over a year. I found 4 items including a pair of jeans. It's 25% off for seniors day. When the young woman was folding the jeans she said "there's something in the pocket. (the small coin pocket jeans have.) I said "is it a 20 dollar bill". She pulls it out, I can see it's a bill and I take it. Unfold it. It's 20 dollars. I'm not kidding about this.
Then the older woman behind the counter said "does she get to keep that?" I said "I sure do, it came with the jeans. Got to check the pockets before things go to the floor."
I feel a twinge of guilt but I wonder what an employee would have done if they noticed the money? Hmm
Years ago I worked in a nursing home laundry for 3 years or so. I was cleaning the lint trap for the large drier. There was a tightly folded bill in the shape of a triangle. I opened it and couldn't believe it was a 50 dollar bill. I turned it in to one of the charge nurses. That was a lot of money for me back then. But I couldn't keep it.
This 20 will be spent on cat food for the ferals tomorrow at WINCO Foods.
