Dog scratches on the door. This is where the dance begins. Wants to go out, right? I go to the door, open it (cold air blasting in). I will ask, "Outside?" Doesn't want to go outside. "Eat?" She turns and runs to her food bowl. I give her some kibble. She takes one bite. Then I ask, "Play?" I find the ball, crawling around on the floor since it's probably under the desk or a chair or the fridge, and toss it and she just sits there and stares at it. Last ditch effort is "Tummy Tickle?" She's always good for that. So I get back down on the floor (small dog), not hard; it's the getting back up part. THEN she's ready to go outside. She has me trained.

She does not like riding in the car. This morning, I told her we are going to see XXX (the groomer). She seemed fine with that. But when I said, "We are going for a ride", she tucked tail and slunk (slinked?) into her crate. We won't leave right now, so feeling sorry for her, I called her to me and told her "No ride" and she wiggled up and licked my face. But in an hour or so, we will go for a ride. Now I just feel guilty.

Try having 4 and figuring out what each are telling/asking you. @Sunkist, the word triggers are the worst. Mine all understand many full sentences so even trying to break them up to fool them usually doesn't work.

I just had one go slinking off because I didn't acknowledge him. I realized it and asked, do you want to sit with me? Guess where he is. Well, was now.
