About Jimmy Hoffa. During the 60's a guy from Toronto named Marvin Elkind was Hoffa's personal driver, for 4 years. Marvin was a Jewish mobster, an ex boxer, and a loan shark's muscle man. He got the job of driving Jimmy Hoffa because Marvin could be trusted to keep his mouth shut. Hoffa's Cadillac was his office, and only Marvin drove Mister Hoffa. At that time Hoffa lived in NYC Monday to Friday, then flew home to Michigan on the weekends. Every week day the Cadillac was washed and checked for bugs that might have been planted by the FBI.Good luck, fuzzy!
It would probably be easier to find Sasquatch,
Jimmy Hoffa, or D.B. Cooper.
If you have a neighborhood senior center, old fashioned hardware store or lumberyard, rural cemetery, realtors office, etc… you could start making inquiries but I’m afraid that the good
ones will be too busy and the bad ones will drive you round the bend.
Maybe it’s time to consider selling out and getting an apartment where the maintenance is included in the rent.![]()
I have similar problems, but I have numbers for some kinds of services. One guy in another town does electrical and A/C, another also does minor electrical and and sometimes other things. We've used a plumbing company in a town on edge of the city. I used to use the auto repair company in that same town, but now I have to find another one. The company had changed and quoted me a price, but when it was ready they had added another repair on without asking me at a larger price. Still driving, obviously. But yeah, those local guys that used to charge reasonable prices, that is pretty much gone. My neighborhood has a group facebook site where you can ask for referrals. It is for neighborhood residents only.Come to think of it, I don't even know any good handyman types anymore. Not that long ago they were everywhere. I don't even see kids mowing lawns anymore. And, yes online services can be pricey for small stuff. Maybe try a neighbors adult family member.
Very true.Sometimes we have to bite the bullet and make new living arrangements to suit reality. My neighbor's mother lived alone until she wasn't up to it anymore, and she moved in with my neighbor. Even that wasn't enough, so after a couple of years, she is now in a home. A long life is a double edged sword.
I'm beginning to see that with my neighbor. She used to be very active. Now she rarely leaves and I haven't even seen her get mail. Lucky she has someone living with her.Very true.
