I propose living without expectation

Expectation makes us dependent on third party sources that may or may not meet individual standards. In theory, independence?

Most humans are social creatures, that’s why we are here to enjoy and contribute to this forum. You‘ve heard if you want things done right, do it yourself? When it comes to accepting help or assistance, we can help those by accepting their desire to help. Doing good is not about me but benefiting others.

As I slowdown I appreciate the care and respect I receive, you know what? People like helping out.

Expectation often leads to disappointment. There's an excellent quote by Shakespeare that sums it up perfectly:

Expectation is the root of all heartache.
William Shakespeare
Heartache wasn't around in The Bard's day, what he actually said was:
"Oft expectation fails, and most oft there where most it promises.", it's from All's Well That Ends Well.
So now you know.

I live my life with very little expectation, especially about other people. I grew up having very little done for me other than enough to keep me alive, living in different homes and passed between foster parents and blood family... there was no expectation beyond that, so I've always been one despite being married and having a family who relies solely on myself.

if other people offer to help in any way I'm delighted but I just always presume I will be seeing to my own needs and don't expect otherwise ...
