I putter, is that a hobby?

Sometimes I just like to go out to my shop and "putter". I must have an attention deficit. I start out thinking I'll do a certain thing and a couple hours later I find out I puttered with a bunch of other things. My wife says I just chase rabbits.

Sometimes one task leads to another without the first one being finished. Sometimes that makes sense, i.e. when paint must dry before sanding and a second coat. Other times there isn't an excuse.

Why not putter?
When we were working, we didn't have time to putter. We had to get the job done.
Now that we are retired, we don't have to get the job done because we can finish it whenever we want. I call that puttering. As long as we are busy.

Men puttering in the shop, garage, barn, etc., has saved countless marriages. Though it may have ruined a few too.
