I quit going to get hair cuts and quit shaving years ago

I was in the military for 30 years, so I still keep my hair short on the sides with a little more on top. I also shave everyday. A lot of people who know me ask if I was in the military. I ask them why do they ask. They say just curious, but your hair looks like a military cut. I tell them “It is.” I suppose one day I will let it grow out.

I let my natural colour grow in. I had to colour my hair every 10!days otherwise I’d have an obvious grey streak on the top of my head going along my part line. I’m glad I grew it out. My natural hair colour now is light reddish brown and silver. It definitely makes me look older than colouring it but I have no worries about my grey hair sneaking up on me.
Allowing my hair to grow out in Spring 2020 was a silver lining to the pandemic. I have some blonde highlights added about every 8 months, but full on coloring? Nope. Been there, done that, not going back.

Not me, I'm afraid, I go to my hairdresser every 6 weeks.
Same here. I shudder to think of the results if I ever tried to trim my own hair. 😄

My mother always made me get a stupid pixie cut when I was a kid, and it was NOT flattering, so I prefer to keep mine just past shoulder length these days.

I get mine trimmed, and an eyebrow wax, every 8 weeks or so, mostly to keep damage and split ends in check. I try to keep damage to my hair as minimal as possible, with regular deep conditioners and blow-drying it only when I have to, but it still starts looking ratty if I don't stay on top of it at least a few times a year.

I tried twice. Didn't work very well.. although the last time wasn't as bad as the first... AND NEITHER was as bad as the ONE time I went to a hairdresser.. which is why I'd never do that again!!

I cut my own hair and it looks the same as I keep it at the same length, shoulder length. It doesn't look bad and if I make a mistake, it will grow out. I do miss going to the hair dresser but for now, I feel I can do it for myself.

True refinement is to be well-groomed, even when no one is watching. A morning shower and shave, a fresh shirt, and regular, meticulous attention to hair aren't chores, they are the foundations of confidence. Appearance matters because it reflects the respect you have for yourself and your time. It has been a lifetime habit to invest in my appearance, meaning a fortnightly, barber haircut, not for compliments, more self-respect.
Am I vain? Probably, but working in a service industry where first impressions are formed in the first seconds and significantly dictate long term customer satisfaction, goes a long way to customer trust and loyalty.
