I re-affirm my intention to do this each New Year.

I love this quote. I aspire to live my life with these things in mind.

"Try to make your time matter: minutes and hours and days and weeks can blow away like dead leaves, with nothing to show but time you spent not quite ever doing things, or time you spent waiting to begin. I hope you will have a wonderful year, that you'll dream dangerously and outrageously, that you'll make something that didn't exist before you made it, that you will be loved and that you will be liked, and that you will have people to love and to like in return. And, most importantly (because I think there should be more kindness and more wisdom in the world right now), that you will, when you need to, be wise, and that you will always be kind." Neil Gaiman.

That first sentiment...making my time matter, that's a difficult one for me. I mean, I am always busy, always multitasking, always doing something. I never slow down. I'm a do-er, and I like it that way. BUT .... so often I don't live in the moment. I feel like I often don't fully experience the now because I'm just getting through it so that I can move on to the next thing. I don't live intentionally, I don't savor the experience or time or thing I'm in RIGHT NOW, because I am always so future-focused.

And every year I vow to change that. I did better at that in 2019 than I did in 2018. And I renew my pledge to be better at it this year.

What about you? Does any of this resonate with you?

Both of the above posts have grand ideas to aspire to.

In just under five years, my husband and I have had to say goodbye to all of our parents, so we are now in that very weird position of being the oldest generation of our family. Because of that, we have adopted the mantra, "If not now, when?"
