BDBoop

Is Blessed
But the person I followed promptly did a 180 - we were friends at the time, so I followed her lead. However, I just found the URL in my bookmarks, so what they hey. Hi. I'm from Minnesota, will share more if/when I get acclimated.

Hi BDBoop. Welcome. There's nothing wrong with showing some independence. We'll love you just for who you are, all by yourself.
I'm glad you've stepped out from behind someone else's shadows!

Thank you, ma'am!

How long has this forum been here? I have been looking for at least a boomer forum for forever! I may not be friends with that person anymore (loco!) but it looks like I'm going to wind up being grateful that she supplied the URL. ;)

:welcome: BDBoop, Come talk and play with us. I've read some books that describe Minnesota. What I remember about the area is that there is lots and lots of open spaces. I drove through your state one January in 1969. I'm in area of, (grew up here), the gulf of Texas.
:hatoff:

My grandmother Ina lived up on the iron range, northern Minnesota. She was first-generation Norwegian-American.

I've never been to Texas. I love this state too much to relocate, I can tell you that much. I have traveled quite a bit, but mostly east/west coast, not much of the middle and south. Did basic training in Ft. Jackson, SC and advanced AIT in Ft. Lee, VA. That was decades and decades ago.

Pleased to make your acquaintance. :)

Hi BDBoop! Welcome to our "home on the range"!

I pronounce it like Eye na, most people will say Ana, even Ena. What branch of the service were you in? My hubby, father, half-brother, half-sister, and son were all in the Marines.

My grandmother pronounced it the same. Now my sister is Senja, and she gets a lot of people pronouncing the j as a J rather than a Y.

I was MN Army National Guard, seven years active, one year inactive.

Welcome BDBoop. :grouphug:
I joined this forum independently and all alone last year, and found people most friendly, and so informative around here. In my old age, I still learn something new all the time on this board.:)

BDBoop, hello!
You seem like a total hoot...and pure joy!! So glad you are here.
I went to a college that was founded by Swedish Lutherans (Bethany College in Lindsborg, Ks)... oh MY the ribbing that went on between the Swedes and the Norwegians!! :D
Bettyann
PS: please know I consider 'hoots' as a total compliment! :)

Oh, Bettyann, nice to see you getting acclimated (with the avatar and everything). Yes, I am a hoot. ;) Gotta have a good sense of humor to get through this life, right??

As far as ribbing goes, it's also Swedes v Finns. An elderly woman my husband worked with told him in all seriousness, and she was completely aghast, "Oh, but you can't marry her!! Swedes and Finns fight like cats and dogs!!"
