I saw an ad for "Senior Dating Sites" right here in this Forum!

I see ads but some of them are disgusting. I don't have an ad blocker. Some are for places in my town. Some are in the middle of threads advertising various things. The disgusting ones are usually at the bottom. They look pornish and I don't know why they're on this site. I certainly don't entertain that kind of crap on my laptop. Unless it's because of some of the things that show up in my streaming. Some of the programs like Landman and stuff have occasional nudity. *Shrugs*

Oh yeah, in answer to Mitch's question...I don't use dating sites either. So I have no clue. I just know there's lots of scammers on those sites.

Maybe you can click on 'I don't want to see this' or in Google personalized settings, skip all that stuff there? I only see an advert for shoes.

Notify the admin with a screen shot. They can remove those.

Ooops, I haven't figured out how to delete my entire comment yet!:giggle:
Click on Edit, then highlight the entire comment and hit delete on your keyboard.

After your comment is deleted, you have to replace it with something because the comment box can't be deleted, and it can't be left empty. Most people just leave a period (.) or a few periods (...) or the word "deleted" or "oops."

I think your computer or browser was hacked, that’s why you see excessive or adult ads.

I don't see them anywhere but here. Next time I see one I'll get a screenshot for ya so you can see what I'm talking about. I generally have no security issues because I only go a few places online. I don't click on stuff at random either. Thanks for the info.

Theres always an ad at the top of mine. I dont mind them. I consider them to be how a forum pays for itself.
Today its for a Home Access company. Stair lifts and ramps and such.

I dont remember seeing any sketchy ones but truthfully most of the time I dont even notice them.
Im so used to them theyre like wallpaper now.

Just a thought. Maybe the ads you see are based on your posts. I did post about wheelchair lifts once upon a time.

I never saw an ad for a dating site until just now at the bottom of this page. It's changed now. It's advertising Service Desk Plus. I never noticed advertising before and I have ad blockers installed.

If I search something like shoes for my son last month I keep getting shoe adverts. Normally I look it up, buy, ready and then for months I get adverts. What about these? What about these? I bought em already! But these adverts are not annoying. I don't even notice them.

Not sure where I would click or access those settings. I don't see any of that kind of stuff on my Chromebook.

hmm...not sure how to do all that. i may have to experiment. i haven't seen any of the creepy ads for a while so i'm not sure what's going on.

Anyway, back to the subject of this thread...
Dating sites are a haven for romance scams. There are a lot of people in this world that will pretend to love someone just to clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next gullible fool.

There are some success stories but I have a feeling they are far and few between. I've done the dating site thing a couple times and honestly the matches they set me up with were a waste of time. One stood me up and the other had coffee with me and couldn't get out of there fast enough.
