I think I might need dentures or something.?

I think I have figured out what has been giving me migraines. I have lost some teeth that has made it difficult to eat, and tension in my jaw is pressing my upper teeth into the nerves in my skull. Old age does bring bone loss, and I was warned a few years back that I would probably need dentures or something. I have no experience with this very complicated process, and I am running out of my own money to pay a lot ( more than $1000 ) to see a dentist. Right now I have to cut all my food up in chewable bites and eat medium to soft foods. I do think something needs to be done, I just don't know what.

Losing teeth is one of the "side effects" most of us experience as we age. I had to get a partial in my lower jaw, a couple of years ago, and I've lost a couple of teeth in the uppers. i suspect it won't be long before I have to go with full dentures.

Dental insurance, for the most part, is of little help. A full set of dentures, and pulling the remaining teeth, can easily run into 4 or 5 thousand dollars....even at places like Aspen Dental. If I were to win Powerball, I would get a full set of implants, but it would take a lottery win to afford that.

It might be worth trying to simply get a limited dental appointment
in order to better assess if your pain is significantly coming from your teeth or not.

I wouldn't personally have teeth removed unless I knew for sure.
Adjusting what and how you eat, in my viewpoint, is preferable, to extreme dental work, if possible.

And if you got info that the migraines are not from your teeth, then you could continue to attempt to address those, in some other ways.

I wonder if you've seen the 2 extra posts, that were added to this thread of yours?
Sometimes, that type of thing doesn't show up in my Alerts,
while other times it does.
So I don't know if that happens to other members as well. And that they (or you) then miss some of the ideas posted in reply to their question/request for input.

In the meantime, here's what I do to eat healthy while I'm waiting for an extraction & bridge to heal & it's too tiring to chew vegetables on one side: I throw the whole salad into my Vitamix & blend it. That way, I get spinach, carrots, tomato, Romaine & avocado without doing a lot of chewing.

Yep, good idea. I usually go the cut everything in small pieces with utensils route. I have been thinking I might end up eating baby food. :)

Baby food seems like it would be pretty expensive after a while. Blenders though don't cost all that much.
I bet you might even find one very inexpensively at a second hand store or even a garage sale. Good luck!

I have lost about 9 teeth total during my life. Two weeks ago I had to have tooth number 5 pulled out. I went back to the dentist for a check up today to see how that area in my mouth is dooing. He asked if I would want a spacer or bridge put in there and I said no. Then I told him that if I smoke a cigar that that would be a nice place to put the cigar in and hold it there.
