I think I'm going to change over to old man velcro tie shoes

I'm 90 and still wear (what I've always called) lace up "sneakers". Same as when I was a teen-ager playing basket-ball except low cut instead of the high cuts.

I've yet to hear anyone use the term "sneaker" ? Has it disappeared or am I just out of date with my terminology?
You're in New England Dave. We call them sneakers. It hasn't disappeared.

Uniroyal, a long time ago was called US Rubber, locally known as "the rubber shop". it was in a bordering town. They made "sneakers".

We were hooked up with some management over there and my mother and another mother got boxes full of sneakers for us all. Fancy ones. They were US Keds I think.
