I think we enjoyed holidays a lot more way back when.

On any holiday, my neighbors shoot off fire works. These aren't just sparklers, etc, but the good stuff ( probably illegal). It dawned me that we used to have parades for almost every holiday. It wasn't a huge parade, mostly fire engines and school bands. But it was a parade. Today, outside of my neighbors and their fireworks, most of the time you wouldn't notice that it was a holiday. Maybe I'm looking through rose colored lenses, but we seemed to enjoy holidays more back then?

It seems to depend on where you live. My local church still has parades through the streets on special days.

There used to be lots of parades here , my daughter took part in most of them as a Majorette... but I haven't seen a parade in these parts for at least 20 years...

Oh, I've always loved parades. Not enough of them these days.
