I took this class in school. Anyone else?

Back in "the day", that was for boys only. Home economic classes were for girls only.

Now, in the schools that offer Industrial Arts, I understand quite a few girls are in the classes. I think Home Ec classes have pretty much disappeared.

I'd like to see a curriculum of classes called "PREPARATION FOR LIFE". Things like how to put air in your tires, how to check your oil and other fluids, how to cook simple recipes, how to shop for bargains, how to repair the hinges on a cabinet, how to paint walls, replace blinds, sew on a button, fix a zipper, etc. Good for both boys and girls.

I think so, too. And I'd add you to balance your bank account, how to write a resume and apply for a job, and things like that, as well.

When we started senior school (age 11 - 12), we initially had wood working and metal work classes. After that, the streams split into those who wanted to follow an academic course leading to university and those who wanted to follow a trade. I think there was an auto shop there.

I went to a small Catholic High School-graduating class was 23 kids. We could pick 1 class to take. Wow! 1 class in 4 years. I wanted to take typing. The nun said only girls could take typing. And besides, my secretary would be doing all the typing. The nun got abstinence wrong, too.

One more class should be added. Understanding insurance.
We did have a math teacher who volunteered information.
