Ammonia works well as bug repellent as well.It actually works. In spring and summer when bugs outside are at their worst, I mix up some apple cider vinegar and water ; 50:50 and use it on myself and my dogs. Using regular bug spray isn’t dog friendly but even if it was, this formula works wonders. It’s bit strong at first but within minutes the ACV disapates somewhat so walking the dogs, gardening and mowing the lawn are then doable.
I generally plant enough for us, the neighbors and the critters. Last summer they ate Ghost Peppers:>) They left most of the Jalapenos though.
