My daughter and family came for the Memorial Day weekend. We are only about 75 miles from NYC so it was decided that we should walk over the Brooklyn Bridge.Lord knows where that idea came from! I never thought much about the Brooklyn Bridge but I'm game for almost anything.Who knows what lies ahead and I'm so happy that they want to include me in their plans. It turned out to be a great day. The weather was a bit overcast but no rain. Great for me,I hate the heat. The view from the bridge was awesome. We then took a ferry boat ride around the Statue Of Liberty, and because I told them in passing, that I had never been in a subway my whole life, another decision was made to scratch that off my things to do list even though it wasn't there to begin with. I didn't know they went so fast and hung on the pole for dear life but I made it back to the surface without a hitch. I wouldn't want to repeat the experience. We then headed someplace for a nice dinner, by then I was completely lost but didn't care. They knew where they were going smart phones in hand. Finally returned to our starting point and fell asleep with the Grand kids in the back seat of the SUV. Back to Oma's for ice cream and cookies. These photos aren't the greatest because obridge from river (800x600).jpgstatue of liberty (800x600).jpgf the weather but you get the idea.

Sounds like a fun day. I never cared much for the NY subways -- I have a wee bit of claustrophobia and being underground creeps me out a little. I can do them, but don't like it. Good thing I don't live there and have to use them to get around!

Thanks for sharing these wonderful pictures and the adventures you had. What a fun way to spend a day. I was born and raised in the borough of Queens and had many relatives and friends living in Brooklyn. We always talked about walking across that bridge but it never really happened. I don't think I'd make it now but I sure enjoyed hearing you did!

It's been said The Brooklyn Bridge is the most photographed bridge in the world. Artists also like to sit and paint pictures of the bridge at different times of the day because of the light.

Thanks again for sharing. I really enjoyed reading this and seeing those very good pictures!

Having never been to New York City, there is no way I could do anything but stand still frozen in mind and body, not knowing which 'end was up' so to speak, lol, if I was dropped off on my own in the city.
