I wanna sleep well tonight for a change

In an attempt to get a good night's sleep with out meds or any of the goofy sleep aids and alternative junk, I have booked a two hour massage for 8 PM. That, and my brand new "My Pillow" that I just purchased, hopefully will help me to sleep more than two consecutive hours.

The massage sounds great Lon, enjoy, that should relax you for sure! I bought My Pillow a couple of years ago, and I'm not crazy about it, but I do use it on and off, switch out with my memory foam pillow. I sleep okay with it, but if you put your head on it, the sides puff up around your ears. When I use mine, I turn it a lot at night, and kind of punch it into the shape I want for my sleep position. Sleep tight!

Sometimes, I wish I had some of that problem. I'm used to sleeping in motels 3 to 4 nights/week. Semi trucks, kids in the hotel swimming pool, loud guests in the hallways... Nothing keeps me awake. My head hits the pillow and out I go. Our home is close to a main artery that is the route ambulances take to and from their station. Folks will say, "How can you sleep with those ambulances going by with their sirens blaring." Sheesh! It's two blocks away and I don't hear anything.

My wife says it worrys her. Says if a hotel I'm staying in burned down, I'd never hear a fire alarm. She's probably correct!!

The best "sleep aid" I've found is a small shot of booze, or small glass of wine about an hour before bedtime. My favorite is chocolate, or whipped cream flavored vodka. I have completely given up beer, etc., and the nightcap is about all the alcohol I consume. A little nip about 9 or 9:30, and by 10:30 I can barely keep my eyes open. Hit the rack, and the next thing I know, it's 7AM, and time to get up.

I rarely get more than three hours unbroken sleep, but the other night as I was locking up, just because I fancied it, I had a small piece of mature cheddar.

Solid sleep from 11.00 to 7.15!

Needless to say, I am continuing with the experiment.

Let us know how it goes Laurie....you just might have hit on something

There are several foods a person can eat, and lifestyle changes that can help them sleep better. There are a number of sites on the Internet that offer such tips....search on "foods that help you sleep better". If a person tries a few of these tips, they can usually find something that works well for them...and avoid taking sleeping pills, etc. In order to maintain good health, a person Needs to get 6 to 8 hours of sound uninterrupted sleep.

As a young man I used to go to bed and sleep almost instantly, wake up 8 hours later. Now, I get up three times to pee. The "golden age" is really more than just a term for longevity for me.

I also have a problem sleeping, there is no such thing as "uninterrupted sleep" for me. I go to bed at midnight and read a bit. I often get up at 2 or 3 AM and work on the PC for an hour or two. I think part of my problem is not getting enough exercise.
