I will be leaving on October 7th.....

Living the Dream
No, no, not the forum, but after 20 years of driving back and forth from Florida to upstate New York, we have sold our camper and will be staying at our home in Florida. A big, rather sad decision, but all of our doctors and medical care is in Florida. My VA medical center is 15 minutes away and our primary doctors a few minutes away.

My wife and I are finding it harder to do all the things that must be done here to get camper open each year. She has promised me that I can get a golf cart to get around in our community. I ask her what about this one. I got her famous ‘Look.’

Good for you and your misses, Pappy. You are certainly moving the right direction...south!

Sounds like a good move, Dave! Hope you both find it E-Z to adjust. I guess this means you will lose your Snowbird License? Here's one for your golf cart!

I love your golf cart although from this angle it looks like it could impale an unsuspecting pedestrian. Good luck with your move. I'm a year round resident in south central Florida and wouldn't live anywhere else.

Thanks everyone for all the good wishes, but the carts pictured are way over my budget. One can spend thousands on these things.Am definitely going to miss the north country as I spent the majority of my life here. Haven’t missed the snow the last twenty years though.

We went through some nasty weather here Saturday and Sunday. Hard rain, winds and tornado warnings all around us. Several microbursts did some damage locally. Reminded me our Florida weather.

Hey Pappy....I'm on the west coast of Florida as I write this post. It has been really hot down here this season and lots of rain, so the people here tell me. Florida for retirement for me is probably not going to happen, but we did discuss it. Too far from the family and even though they all promised to visit us from time to time, we are sure that we would miss our friends. Yes, cops do have friends.

I tried using the VA doctors twice and both times were bad experiences. So, since I have paid medical during my retirement, I opted to continue using my GP and any specialist when and if necessary. I am sure that most Veterans enjoy or like their doctor at the VA, but when you have a bad experience, it's best to just move on.
