9/11 is upon us. I lost a good friend, mentor and a superior pilot on 9/11. Capt. Jason Dahl, who also flew for United, was the Captain in charge of Flight 93, which crashed nose down in Shanksville, PA. It was believed at the time that Dahl's plane was headed back to Washington and was going to be used to crash into either the Capitol building or the White House. It's hard to believe that 16 years has passed already.

Eleven years later, his wife died in her sleep from an over-dose of pain killers and alcohol. Sandy was never a big drinker, so I am assuming the loss of her husband weighed heavy on her.

Tomorrow morning at 8:45 a.m., I will pause for a moment of silence for all of the victims of 9/11.

"Let's roll."

I'm sorry oldman. 911 is a day we will all remember.

I'll be thinking of my sister in -law,Suzanne&her family as I always do on this sad anniv..Her younger brother,Tony was one of the victims. He worked at bond company,Canor/Fitzgerald which lost half of its employees I pray for other families who lost loved ones too. Sue

When I was still working at United, during one of our pilot's meetings, we got to talking about the Concorde. One of the higher ups with the company said here is a little fact that most people do not know. "When the World Trade Center was destroyed, that tragedy had a huge effect on the Concorde's revenue. It was estimated that between one-half and sometimes as high as two-thirds of Concorde's passengers on any given flight worked for companies that had an office in the WTC."

I never thought about that, however, several of the companies in the two towers had international offices, so yes, I don't doubt it. It would be interesting to find out how many companies were from the different countries, e,g, France 88. (Just a number that I made up.)

Too late to speculate. Personally, I don't think they even cared WHO were in the buildings.

All they wanted to do was to destroy the buildings and kill people.

I believe that, even today, that's all they have on their minds.

Ruthanne: Don't you live in Cleveland? Did you know that Flight 93 turned east from their westerly heading while they were over Chardon? I lived in Chardon while I was in college. When I heard the ATC call out that Flight 93 had made their turn while over Chardon, it just felt very eerily to me.

I think their plan was to cripple our economy (World Trade Center), cripple our military (Pentagon), and cripple our leadership (the Capitol building or WH...fairly certain speculation). And I agree Falcon, also to kill those who don't follow the Koran/Allah. But what it did was make us stronger. I will never forget either, oldman.
