Your opinions after todays ice shooting of the Minnesota women who drove through the cordon.....

A woman has been shot and killed by an ICE agent after allegedly trying to ram officers with her car.

The victim, 37, was shot three times in the face today after 'an attempt to kill' officers during their operations in Minneapolis.
Now I know this might be too hard to discuss because of the political slant on it.... however I watched the video, and I wonder did Ice have to shoot her 3 times in the face ?
The people of Minneapolis are outraged.. some of whom watched it take place...
For those who haven't seen the video... here it is.. don't worry you only get to see from the outside no gruesome images..
Horror as 'mom', 37, shot DEAD by Trump's ICE border enforcers

I watched the video. You can see the officers ask her to leave, but instead, she turns her wheels directly at the agents and accelerates into them. The closeup of the vehicle shows only one bullet hole, and it is right through the front of the windshield, so the officer must have been directly in front of her when he fired at her.

However, local police chief Brian O'Hara said the woman was in her vehicle and blocking the road. Then federal law enforcement approached her and the vehicle began to drive off.

That's what I see too. She just tries to drive away.

Over here, a coronial inquest would be held to investigate such a death. The finding would be whether the officer behaved lawfully or whether he should be charged under the law.
Same would happen here... but going just by what we've seen in the media..and Please believe I'm all for arresting people who are not obeying lawful orders... or if they are really a danger then they should perhaps be shot if all else fails ... but just watching the video... that Ice guy seemed to be very trigger happy, there was no need from what we saw for him to fire 3 times into her face... ..it looked to me like she was reversing to pullaway....

Similar to the US. In an officer shooting case, the officer is put on leave while the shooting incident is investigated. If the investigation results in charges against the officer, he is arraigned and faces a trial.

What didn't notice in the video... was the third officer.. the shooter.. he was directly in front of her windscreen. I thought the shooter was the Officer who marched up to her side window.. but on looking again... it's an officer directly in front of her windscreen

It seems like it could have been handled differently.

If the ICE agents had simply taken down the license plate number and a description of the vehicle they could have tracked her down and arrested her or given her a citation.

On the flip side, if you defy a lawful order things can go bad in the blink of an eye.

I’m very concerned about the vetting, background checks, training, and experience that many newly hired ICE agents may have gone through. It seems like this sort of thing could become more common.

I agree with this and other posts saying that the incident needs to be officially investigated, carefully & impartially. I found it helpful to slow down the available footage. For those who may be interested, here is what's available in the usual Youtube-type format, and you can slow the video down to 50% normal speed. You click on the gear-shaped icon at the bottom-right of the video frame, then you can choose other speeds from the menu.

even tho' this link is to the British Guardian newspaper, it's behind a paywall for me..

Unfortunately since ICE is federal and this administration doesn’t care about what’s legal nothing is going to happen to the officer. They want to scare Americans so they comply and don’t protest because they’re afraid of being killed by the government.
it's kind of the same way that the Uk is going....imprisoning people for free speech, making everyone terrified of speaking their minds for fear of going to prison...

She is actively blocking the road with her vehicle, an officer has a hand on her door, and looks like the other hand on the steering wheel, commanding her to get out of the vehicle while another officer is standing in front of the vehicle.

She decides to jump into reverse then drives at the officer in front that had already drawn his weapon.

Good chance that any officer is going fire, ICE or small city cop. The vehicle is a weapon.

Here is the video for anyone who hasn't seen it...
In a post to X, the homeland security department (DHS) insisted the person was a “domestic terrorist” who “weaponized her vehicle” and attempted “to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them”.

The department claimed several ICE officers were hurt, but said that they were expected to make “full recoveries”.

“An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots. He used his training and saved his own life and that of his fellow officers,” the DHS post said.

The videos mentioned above appear to contradict that statement, as it shows the SUV clearly backing up away from ICE officers as they approach. There is one ICE officer that can be seen partially in front of the car as the car moves forward and then away from the officers. That same ICE officer is seen firing his gun as the car appears to drive by him. Three gunshots can be heard ringing out.

There is no visible sign in the videos of ICE officers being injured. The agent who appeared to have fired the fatal shots is seen returning to a silver SUV that was driven away from the scene shortly after – through a red traffic light.

Please, the officer who walked over and put his hand on the door only had it there for a second as she was reversing, and the other officer shot her through the windscreen at the very same time... they clearly never gave her time to follow any orders...

After seeing the bullet hole in the driver's side windshield, it appears the agent wasn't in danger of being run over. The hole was an inch or two away from the chrome that encased the left side of the windshield. He was off to the side of her vehicle when he fired upon her, not in front of her. To me, he used deadly force to stop her from leaving. I agree with the mayor...their excuse is BS.

I tried to watch the regular video and the slow-motion one, had trouble following the first especially (am very tired), but when one of the accounts claimed she 'sped away,' she wasn't doing it of her own accord if she'd just been shot, right?

to be fair we don't know if she'd already sped away .. before we saw the video and then was stopped further along...... but she certainly didn't get a chance to speed away in the video....

I'm sorry but when LE has their guns drawn and they are demanding her to get out of her vehicle and she chose to try to drive away, what exactly did she think was going to happen? They were gonna wave and say bye-bye?

Vehicles have been used several times intentionally driving into crowds of people killing and maiming. If you are sitting in a running vehicle attempting to block a law enforcement action you may as well be holding a loaded weapon. They gave her a chance to shut it off and leave the vehicle. The moment after that when she put it in gear and started to move she became a deadly threat to anyone within blocks if she wasn't stopped.

Soon it will come out that she had mental issues I suppose.
