Idiots and Imbeciles... What have we come to?, Part 2

So, last night we went to a concert in Fort Worth. I thought it would be pretty tame since it was Duran Duran and Chic. Before the concert, in the parking garage for some strange reason the guides were making everyone back into the spaces. It held up traffic getting into the garage for an ungodly amount of time, but I can only surmise it is so everyone can leave quickly after the concert is over. Wouldn't you know, there was one guy who REFUSED to back in, so he and another concert goer were already going at it, yelling and "chest bumping" like big he-men until one of the guards came over and insisted the idiot back in. That held up traffic even more.

Inside the concert, after many beers there were many drunk people dancing in the aisle and one 50-something woman that was almost ready to collapse as she danced in front of everyone. We had Floor seats (never again), and staff started coming by and asking people to clear the aisles as not only is it rude but it must be a fire hazard. I felt so bad for the woman behind me because she had a walker and could not stand, was in an aisle seat and could only see the screens because people were dancing in front of her. One guy came up and was yelling the song into her ear. It was like a mosh pit full of teenagers in the 70's. And most of the attendees were in their 40's, 50's and 60's so I would have expected better. I'm not a prude. I know everyone needs to let loose, but it was ridiculous. We enjoyed the concert regardless.

Today I was in the grocery store with my hubby. There were only 2 counters open that were not self-service, but the line was moving so quickly that were through in 5 minutes. A 60-something woman behind me said, "They need to hire more staff." I said, "well many people have chosen not to go back to work". (In reality, the unemployment rate is under 4% and many have chosen to look for jobs that offered a better life balance and/or those that pay more.) Then she went on the say "That's because we are paying them to stay at home". I bit my tongue, since my job was eliminated due to Covid after 35 years in my industry and those unemployment payouts were my lifeline. Then she goes on about how she isn't happy with the state of our country. I didn't even answer because I could already guess what would come next if I engaged her. How can someone be so stupid as to just spout off what she believes to be true and assume that I will engage with her when I don't even know her? I guess some people are starved for affirmation.

Sorry to rant, and yes, I said in an earlier thread that people are very friendly in Dallas, but some are idiots and with some you just want to keep the conversation light. ;)

I prefer to watch them at home on tv. It's just easier. I gotta tell ya I am surprised about the lady with the walker being there.
She was probably only in her 60's, knew the words to some of the old Duran Duran songs and said she was from way outside of Fort Worth and considered the concert a "mini-vacation".

I feel your pain, this rural desert community is full of those types. I can tell when they're going to spout their nonsense, I turn and walk away.
I think they are starved for affirmation, it's like they suspect(rightfully so) that the fairytales they've been spoon-fed are in fact just that.

People getting paid not to go back to work? That did happen for a while. I know someone who was getting paid more being out of work from the rescue plan or whatever the hell it was called than he was at his just over minimum wage job. But it's been over a year, I believe, since that programs ceased.

It is a bit baffling that there is a severe worker shortage and at the same time, we have all these homeless people. Are they all that messed up that they can't find some kind of job that would get them off the streets?

i do not understand the older folks who go to concerts insist on acting like fools .....
i went to a couple of concerts with older bands/ acts and yet ladies in audience not only dressed as to relive their 20s........ but one lady pushing 60 decided to flash her chest to the stage...NO one needed to see that lol.
yelling not singing along with favorite tracks and downing beer like they could not get enough........

as for workers i listen to my daughter who sits in on interviews daily and most people applying say things like ........" i just want to try it but if it is not cool i will most likely quit in a couple weeks " completely disregarding the company investment to train them etc ....... many do not even show up for interviews but use that email as proof they are looking if they are still eligible for unemployment ....
many people have quit looking doing gig on the side jobs ( cash) and the methods we use to count unemployed and labor participation are severely flawed

Agree with your first paragraph, not necessarily with your second, but that's what makes us human. (y)

The lady flasher may have spent a fortune on her chest & didn't want the money to go to waste.

The homeless are not in the job market, they have fallen through the cracks in society.
People who have "fallen through the cracks" would welcome a hand up. They are the homeless who can be helped through training and other efforts that would land them a job. Falling through the cracks mean they became homeless through no fault of their own, and that it's flaws in society that caused their destitution.

I have no idea what percentage of the homeless population have fallen through the cracks. It seems from from I've seen in documentaries that many of the homeless have simply given up on life and accepted homelessness as their fate. They have no goals other than to make it through another day and for many, to get another fix. They are the people who don't want a bed in a shelter where they can't shoot up.

Drugs. I guess that's what it comes down to for many of them. It's their reason for living.

That said, I'm all for helping people who want to help themselves. But something needs to be done about the homeless population downtown who bother business patrons and workers. They urinate and defecate on the sidewalks. In other areas, they're destroying beaches and decent neighborhoods. They're a menace to society.

Society is collapsing. Too many people have given up on life. Data indicates that suicide rates are the highest they've been since WWII. The war and the Great Depression no doubt caused people to give up during the 30s and 40s, but today, we have a booming economy, low unemployment, we're not at war... So WTF? Why have so many people given up?

Most, if not all of the mass murderers of the past 20 or so years have been suicidal. People don't go out and commit mass murder expecting to progress with their lives as if nothing happened. They know that it's the end of their lives. They no longer want to live and they want to take as many innocent bystanders with them when they take their last breaths. And for some of them, the shooting spree provides a bit of meaning to their otherwise meaningless lives.

I don't like those oldies concerts. When it comes time for the band to sing their big hit single, they sing the first couple of bars, and the lead singer points the mike to the audience, so they can sing the rest.. I didn't pay $50. 70, 90 to get down front seats to listen to the turkey next to me sing.!!!!!!!!!!
And all the bands do that.
I'm quite certain, they hire drunk 50+ women to dance in the aisles. And why is it the band has $thousands in amps and speakers, but the "can't sing a note" whacko, way in the back of the auditorium out shouts the bands and ruins every song.

Goebbels says repeat a lie often enough and people will believe it

Goebbels was a Nazi propaganda minister.

@SeniorBen We have a booming economy?
Sure, low unemployment, high growth, the stock market soaring... It's just inflation that makes things seem bad, and they are, but that doesn't mean the economy isn't booming. And it's mostly the rich who are getting richer while the poor get left further and further behind. Plus there's that whole homeless problem that makes things look bad.

So it all depends on how you look at it. :ROFLMAO:

I'm sorry that you felt the need to judge me without knowing what you're talking about.
Sort of like YOU judging the homeless........? I have BEEN one of their group, and have since helped several more out of the situation. Yes, there are some that don't want out, but there are many who are there through bad luck and the greed of those better off, that do NOT want to stay there. Paint folks with a wide brush and you may get some ON ya.

Talk about painting with a wide brush, maybe you better take a good look at yourself, because you definitely got some all over you.
If you have a chip on your shoulder you better go find a different playmate my dear, I don't have time to play your silly game.

It seems my brush is pretty narrow, since its only painting you. I'm pretty sure you don't have time....
