If money was no object, what ONE THING would you buy YOURSELF

I'm in a wheel chair. I can walk for short periods. But I can't walk into a store, and mosey around. I'd get an electric wheelchair This may sound like I could do this now, but if you have an electric wheel chair how do you get to the place where you can use it? Well, you need a van. Then the van has to be rigged with a lift, and motors, all kinds pf expense gadgets.. By the time you get all the auxiliary equipment, the van , the chair, etc., you are talking about a sizable hunk of change that I don't have.
I'd give it to you if I had it. Is there elder help in your community or that for people with disabilities?

I play the piano (badly). But if money were no object I would buy a cherry-red Gibson SG and a Marshall amplifier and set out to be the next Keith Richards.

Actually, I could do that tomorrow, but then I'd have to get divorced and I don't want to do that.

Cannot think of much, but does a whole new wardrobe count as ONE thing?
Marie, are you the one who posted that you woke up one day and hated all of your clothes??? 😂. I guess ONE gigantic closet that f new clothes counts as one thing! 😂
I would buy the house up on the hill from us I have admired for a number of years now. Alas, it is not to be but if money wasn't an issue, the possibility would be real. Don...
What do you love about it?

A very BIG chunk of change! Why couldn’t you pull it on a wee little trailer behind a car? Of couse with your winters that might be a problem. Give me a minute...i’ll keep thinking about this one. Surely there is a minimal cost solution

hahaha...if I told you what my husband did for a living you would laugh out loud at the thought of buying it..... :ROFLMAO:
I’m already laughing out loud just “imagining” what some of the jobs could be😂
I live in a small apartment in a high-crime, very unappealing, run-down area. If I could I would buy a house with a nice yard, either in a pretty suburb or somewhere in the foothills.
*sigh* I wish you could have that too. Even a small apartment in a much nicer area! (with an outside mail box, of course 😉).

The location (top of the hill), the fact it sits alone (no houses immediately to the left or right), and the view from there of the area below. Kind of like a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, always wanted one, never had one. Don...

Well, a moment of gratitude instead of still more wishes. I am grateful to have finished college BEFORE this question became the consideration as to whether or not to go to college! :geek:

This reminded me of what my second choice would be. The house with the view in the picture below.

One can see a few neighbors on the cliffs below but not enough to be concerning or close enough to be a problem.

A homestead including an off-grid cabin (lots of solar) surrounded by vegetable raised beds and a summer kitchen for canning the bounty. All wheelchair accessible given the likely progression of autoimmune unfun stuff. Also an orchard with fruit and nut trees and plenty of berry bushes.

My wife and I never had lofty desires for stuff, so we have lived rather low key and been perfectly satisfied with what we have accomplished. I honestly don't know what we would do if money were no object. We are fine where we live and with what we have and our lifestyle. To me, it is a sad thing to always be looking for the next big thing and never be satisfied with what might well be a perfectly satisfactory life.

To be sure, what I am saying is not a justification for having sat back and done nothing. We both have travelled the world, completed our formal education, had good careers, been involved in community volunteer work, and are now into retirement with a reasonable cushion of savings. We just never lusted after what rich people have.

Tony
