If you could choose only ONE vocal singer, who would it be?

After I read your post Kadee46,I looked up Dean Bourne.. He is truly amazing and he does remind me of Roy Orbison. Now I am going to listen to him over and over again.
We we’re both so impressed with the show we still have the tickets
I noticed an error in my OP that should have been (Km ) We live 3.000 Km from the venue where we seen him ,of course that venue is closed until who knows when

If you have ever heard the late Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers sing “Unchained Melody,” I think you would agree that he had an excellent voice. The reason I went was because I had brought them to Las Vegas earlier that day from New York. It was my only flight that day, so instead of sitting in the hotel all evening, I grabbed a cab to the strip and went to their show.

Oh! I gasp, I sigh, If i would have heard that in person,i think my breath would stop!!!!! I think I play that record EVERY DAY!!!!!
You MET THEM????? Oh!!!! I hear that song in my dreams! I really do!!!

Ella Fitzgerald. I'm not a jazz aficionado. I don't like scat. But for pure tone, voice ,it's got to be her. Most singers take in a breath and then 'belt one out'. Ella just opened her mouth, and the sound fell out. There was no effort or strain. This sweet, warm, perfect sound hugged you.

When Bobby finished singing the song that night, he said (very lowly into the mic) “That’s magic.” BTW, I did meet them, but only for maybe a minute or so. When they were deplaning, I asked them if they were singing tonight. Bobby told me they were and I should come to the show. That was the reason that I went. I really enjoyed their songs when I was growing up, so I thought why not? I wasn’t disappointed.

Kadee, Adelaide has amazing performers which I was fortunate enough to see, several times. Of course, the country has a lot of talent. I wish I'd seen more local talent while I was there.

I seen the R.O show at twin towns ( Coolangatta ) RSL club up,the Gold Coast @Pinky they get the best entertainers up there, when entertainers come here it’s way to expensive to go to a show .
Elton John was here in Adelaide late last year it was well over $200 to go to his show, which was held in evening open air at the Adelaide botanic gardens .
The Roy Orbison show up the GC was a 2.5 hour show for $49

Whispering Bill Anderson, and Harry Chapin if I could chose a second. :)

Country and Western singers, (ones I haven't heard of before?)?

Who might be the greatest singers from that genre in my estimation, (if that's what your choices were), including maybe folk singers from other countries?

Judith Durham who sang with an Australian group called "The seekers" in the 1960s/1970s could just get my vote, though there are many US singers up there too. 👍.
