If You Find a Spotted Lanternfly in Your Yard

Also something else to watch out for, this tree .... Manchineel. It's the world's most deadly tree.

I spotted one in the backyard. I went to spray it with bug killer but it either jumped or flew and couldn't be found. It showed up later though on the ground so I tried to squash it but it must have saw it coming and leapt away. I have to check the tree for egg masses.

I have seen them in all sizes. It seems to me that the younger ones have more of the red wings showing. I saw the largest one about a week ago, I'd say it was about 1.5 to 2 inches from head to the end of the wings. Pretty big.

Most are smaller and I would say they are about the size of a resting moth.

Maybe I am blind but could not find the size anywhere in the article. Are we looking for something the size of an ant, a house fly, or my hand?
They're about 1 1/2 - 2 inches long. They remind me of cicadas. I've seen a few in my front yard and got rid of them. Some have already died from the pest control we use around the property. Haven't seen anything near my fruit trees in the back yard yet (keeping my fingers crossed).
