That's me. I love the season and I put up the tree and the lights as soon as the stores get decorated and the nights draw in. This year it was mid November. But when it's over it's over.Christmas is my favorite time of th year, my most favorite season to celebrate. i put up all the decorations as soon after thanksgiving as is feasible, most always thanksgiving weekend as soon as those festivities are over.
That said, I begin taking down all the Christmas stuff pretty much as soon as the last family member leaves on Christmas Day.
This year, because I’ve been so sick with the flu, is different. We haven’t celebrated Christmas as a family yet and won’t until I’m not contagious, hopefully by this weekend.
This. Even though my Christmas decorating is tasteful, not cluttered or random and it follows a theme, still there’s something very satisfying and peaceful about returning to the more streamlined look of my normal decor.Today I took down the porch set-up at five while it was still dark, then un-decorated the inside and did a deep cleaning. We're back to our cool, clean look now and it's welcome.
Yes, when growing up, my family kept the Christmas tree up until Jan. 6. We'd all put our trees out on the curb, then the township would pick them all up and place them in an enormous pile in a dirt field area beside a main road. Then they'd set them aflame on The Twelfth Night, which would treat the community to a huge bonfire. People would come from miles around to enjoy it.On the 12th Day. January 6th.
