If you live alone, do you have pets?

MY last cat Beau went over the bridge abt 8 months ago, and
I do really miss him, and miss having any cats around, but i know that I'd have a hard time caring for pets now, no car for
vet trips, unable to get up and down to play with them or clean
up after them....so as much as I'd love to have the companionship it is just not smart to do so, I make up for it my
own way, by rescuing strays and feeding the squirrels LOL....

I gave up having any more pet cats pets, when I got my first ride in an ambulance to the hospital. Pets would depend on me to provide food, etc., and if I'm not there..............
I'm not living alone at this point and we have an 11 year old cat and a 15 year old dog, but I've already decided that when the dog goes, we won't be replacing him even though we've never been without a doggy friend. But my daughter already has 3 dogs and a cat and now soon two toddlers so if something were to happen to us, I wouldn't feel good expecting her to take our fur kids on and the idea of them going to live with strangers...... so they'll be our last too.

I didn't think I'd get a pet for at least another 8 years because I wanted to be free to go where and when I wanted for as long as I wanted. But our fur baby chose us. There are 24 patios in our complex. She came to and stayed on ours. For me, it was love at first sight; my son knew it and teased me about it. He even photographed me with the silly grin on my face while I watched her outside and bet someone it wouldn't be long before I brought her inside.

She was skittish about letting us near her, although she happily accepted the food and water we put out for her. But I tricked her, caught her and brought her inside. That was Labor Day weekend 2022. Now she rules the house 😺and we can't imagine life without her. She provides so much fun entertainment. Deja, sitting next to the printer and deciding to be good for about three minutes, so I can use the computer without interruption.

Otherwise, she's batting at my fingers or the keyboard or trying to jump up on me with her claws out. 😨

There is an orange cat that is in the 'hood that will visit with'
me when it wants to, I think it belongs to someone that just
lets it out whenever it wants....it will come in the house and lets me pet it....so wish I could have another, but not at this age......
