YES all the time. It was fun.
We lived near a railroad track and did this all the time.
I loved the smell of the tar at railroad tracks and the sound of them as they passed through.
Oddly enough I miss the train.
:lofl: Aunt Bea.
You weren’t allowed to deface a penny via the railroad track method but it was perfectly fine to pay an outrageous amount of money to do so with a fancy machine?
No wonder I turned into a rebel
Oh my goodness. I have not thought about all the times we would put the pennies on the tracks, for a long time!! It used to be so fun! Now it sounds dangerous! How times have changed in the past 50 years!

squashed a penny or two in my time. the real fun however was heading down to the tracks to a spot where some water had worn a groove under them. Just enough room to lay down there and let a train roll over the top of you. You could feel the rails bouncing off your shirt. (Oh the things you do when you're young and think you're invisible).
