A lady I worked with back in the 90's received her shipment of Epi-Pens from her on-line pharmacy. Usually, she got four at a time as that's all they'd give you. Well, the shipment was in a larger box than usual and when she opened it, there were *40* in there.
She called the on-line pharmacy to report the....uh...overage and was told rather snippily that there's no way she was shipped 40 of them as they.didn't.do.things.like.that. So she said "Fine", and hung up.
A couple of days later, she received a panicked call from the on-line pharmacy people asking if she had received more than she was supposed to. "Oh, no" she said, "I spoke to ________ on Tuesday to tell her there might have been a mistake on the delivery and she told me that you.don't.do.things.like.that so it must have been a figment of my imagination that I received 40 of them, so we're fine then, huh?"
There were explanations and apologies and instructions on how to send them back. She said since they were so expensive and so limited in supply and there had been such lack of communication on somebody's part, that she wouldn't feel comfortable sending them back that way and they could send someone to her door or at work to pick up the extra 36 directly from her. Hummm, hummm, stammer, stammer on their part.....we can't do that. "Sure you can" says she, "you have my home address and here's my work address and cell phone. Please call me at least a day in advance when you're ready to pick them up" and hung up. They picked them up. Way to go, Mindy!
