If you own a dishwasher do you use it?

Its just me. I live alone. It would take me months to fill it so I wash mine the old fashion way.
I use my dishwasher as a drying rack. I keep the stuff I use everyday in there.

I have a dishwasher has not been used once in 7 years living here .

I use like some hollow bar thing which holds soap with attached rough sponges to wash in the sink . Easy and you replace sponge here and there but I prefer to wash by hand as just myself .

Me too. It’s full at least every 1.5 days. Pots, pans, and misc are done by hand.

You and Krystal are happy with your dishwashers but over time and say this as a retired plumber most stop using them .

Some brands of course better then others so imagine you and Krystal have good brands as some border on useless .

Mines a 1980's Kenmore. It still works. Probably cause I dont use it much now.

We must have a good brand also cause ours works well. We do a load of dishes everyday.
Something we do often is rinse the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. We find that dirty dishes are easy to rinse when done before food gets dried out. If we don’t rinse them first, the dishwasher has a hard time keeping them clean. The food stuff used to dry out on the dishes and was then hard to clean.

Kenmore and General Electric old appliances were outstanding . True work horses and an incredible life span .

Our dishwasher made a loud humming noise, so Hon suggested we stop using it for now.

I don't mind doing the dishes by hand. Your brain goes on auto pilot while you are washing...like mowing the lawn or driving in the car down the highway. I find it thoughtfully relaxing.

Ours is an 18 year old Kenmore. The first was replaced at two years old under warranty.

The one thing that doesn’t come off in the wash is avocado. Sometimes an item goes in without being rinsed.

I have a Bosch dishwasher and I have had it a long time. It does a great job and I haven't had any problems with it.

When we did use the dishwasher, I would vigorously scour and rinse each plate and all of the cutlery before putting it in the dishwasher....my OCD in full flight!

When we bought the house, we never had a dishwasher. Within a month of living here, I installed one, and we use it on average for 5 out of 7 nights.

When the kids were growing up I ran the DW at least daily, oftener on weekends. Now I only bother with it if one of us is sick (sanitize cycle), or if more than just the two of us are eating. Otherwise it's not worth the aggravation. Rarely put in pots or pans.

Wouldn't dream of putting painted serving pieces, fine crystal or silver in it. Inexpensive wine glasses and everyday flatware? Sure. But the good stuff? Nope.

Where I used to live my dishwasher was pathetic so I'd wash everything by hand and then run the dishes in the dishwasher so they'd be nice and sanitized.

The condo I live in now has a very effective dishwasher, and I'm really glad to not need to wash dishes by hand now. I run the DW every other day, because even though the bottom shelf still has some space, the top shelf is full (I use a lot more small dishes than I do plates and bigger bowls).

Mine is full of cookie sheets and serving trays. We've lived here five years now and I used it once, just to see if it worked.

With just the two of us, it takes me ten minutes to wash, rinse and stack dishes to dry. I really don't mind it.
