If You Start a New Topic ….

No, when I start a new topic I don't answer any responses unless there is something I either feel negatively or positively about. I do often try to respond with a Like emoji to anyone who answers, unless the answer is something derogatory.
I feel the same way. I don’t usually answer for each post but if I do answer each post then I make sure not to miss anyone. If everyone is getting their post answered but mine and usually ask about it.

the more new threads people start on varied topics the better for a forum (and I admit I have only started a very few  ) so please lets not start expectations about it being courtesy to answer or acknowledge all responses.

that will only make people more hesitant to start topics, if they feel they aren't then following on 'correctly'

Will add, as someone that starts few threads, that I sometimes start threads that I don't expect any others to actually respond to and rather just give others something of interest to read. Instead, such posts serve the purpose of conveniently storing ideas, especially longer explanations on complexities of science, on the Internet that I can later refer to, not only on this board but also elsewhere.
