If you walked past a public phone box and it was ringing, would you answer it?

There aren't any public phones anymore that I know of. But if there was one and it was ringing I would let it ring. :ROFLMAO:
In the past when public phone boxes rang we would answer them. Often when I was a teen it would be someone desperate to get hold of someone who lived locally but had no phone at home, and would ask whoever picked up the ringing phone if they could take a message to number 22 smith street, lol...also remember there was a phone box on pretty much every corner back in the day

back in the 70's, yes, I would occasionally answer a ringing public phone box.
I could let them know they had the wrong number, and had not reached a land
line etc.

These days, if there were existing public phone boxed, I absolutely would not
answer it..

At home, I mostly let it go to voicemail, unless I really want to talk with the caller
per caller ID.

There are cooties on all public devices. Who sanitizes those things?
Think where the hands have been on that grocery cart you go pushing
... let it ring ...
there was always phone cleaners who came along quite regularly in their vans and sanitised the public phones, and the phone boxes interiors.. I seem to remember they were called Phonitas or something like that

I remember watching that movie quite a while ago. Not that I remember what happened.
Did someone die answering the phone?
The main character ( Collin Farrell) picks up a phone that is ringing in a phone booth and the caller (Kiefer Sutherland) let's him know that he has a a rifle pointed at him and starts making demands. I don't remember much of the movie but I think I liked it.

Me walking past a public phone that is ringing...... picking it up....

"Hello, who's that speaking?"

Person at the other end of the line....
"It's Mick."

Me.......
"Oh hiya, Mick, how are you doing?"

Mick.....
"I'm fine, who are you?"

Me....
"It's me, Tim."

Mick.....
"Tim, can I speak to Mary at number 37?"

Me....
"You can, Mick, but you'll have to shout really loud, she lives at the other end of the street."

Mick....
"Well can you nip along there and give her a message?"

Me.....
"Well I'd like to, Mick, but it's pouring with rain."

Mick.....
"Well, why the hell did you pick up the phone, Tim?"

Me....
"I just happened to be in the phone-box sheltering from the rain."

Mick....
"Will you please put the phone down and stop wasting my time?"

Me....
"You ungrateful sod, no wonder Mary wasn't here to take your call."

You really do come into contact with some strange people on public phones.

Whenever my cell phone rings and I'm in public...like on a city Bus...etc. I'll answer, "Yes, Mr. Biden."

It usually garners a few chuckles and smiles. :)
