If You Were To Return To The Workplace Would You Choose A Different Line Of Work

Would you like to stay with what you know? Or would you choose to do something different. Maybe your old line of work is obsolete? Or maybe you hated your job/jobs and would like to do something new.

I've had a few different jobs, waitress, no way would I do that again.....real estate, loved it but did not love the hours, fitness instructor, not going there. Office work, not bad.

But if I were to return to work I think I would like to work in sales, maybe a furniture store, I like meeting people, commission dictates that you motivate yourself.

What about you?

I worked in offices for many years as a secretary (now called administrative assistant.) I would never go back to that. But when I started my work life there were only 3 choices ... nurse, teacher or office worker. If I could go back in time, I would have a job doing something in gardening or my brother and I would have something to do with junk like 1-800-Got Junk!

I know for sure that I'd never work in an office setting again.

Yes, definitely! I would be an Interior Designer! I just love what they do making homes look beautiful with how they decorate them. I enjoy watching all the shows on tv about interior design and have been for a long time and that's how I know I'd like doing that.

If I had been foretold about jobs/training in the military I would have chosen a different occupation. I was a navy radioman which has no civilian counterpart, but I was not always that. When I first started I was a bt or boiler tender. This has a civilian counterpart as a stationary steam plant operator.

I enjoyed doing what I did on my last two jobs. I was the Medical Staff Coordinator at both a small hospital and then in a Rehab Center. A medical staff coordinator is responsible for credentialing physicians and other medical workers. These professionals work in hospitals, long-term care centers, or doctor's offices. As a medical staff coordinator, your duties include managing meetings, maintaining credentials, and resolving issues.

I was literally thrown in on my last job to 'fix' the mess they had; the doctor's credentials were not being kept updated. It was a tough job but I enjoyed being busy all the time.

If I could have handled being around people, I would have been more successful as a software engineer. I find law fascinating, though, and considered becoming a lawyer at one point. I took some business law classes as electives in college. On second thought, I'd need a better memory to have been successful as a lawyer, so if I could have handled being around people AND had a better memory, that's what I might have done, although my memory issues could be a side effect from my anxiety issues from being around people. There are a lot of "what if" questions in my life.

Yes I would do my job again.... but previous to my longest job... I worked at various other jobs while raising my DD alone after divorce, and one of them was working at our most prestigious Supermarkets and department stores... never again!! The public are mental...absolutely mental, if they have nothing to complain about they will invent it... .
We all go on in life thinking people are like me, honest, decent people overall ( except criminals.). at least I do... It's not till you work with the public you realise how wrong you are!!

Nope! I was in education as a teacher. Mostly senior high English. Can't imagine standing in front of students wearing a diaper like mask and the students staring back at me wearing the same thing. Not a snowball's chance in a very hot place! I love retirement and always have and always will.

If I can ever find a place to buy, I'd like to quit my job depending on what amount of money I may have left. If I have to continue working a year or two more, I will certainly find another job. Even if it's low wage. I want something I can just do without the mental and physical stress of my job. I'm worn out.

I enjoyed my work. I worked in different capacities helping folks with disabilities. Often learning life skills in order to live as independently as possible. Many often needed full time support people to help in their daily living. But I saw many people mature and grow beyond what they could even think.

My 1st job was delivering searches to downtown law offices ,it was alot of walking.I didn't mind it when the weather was good, during the winter months it was brutal especially when the winds were coming off Lake Erie made it hard to see-wouldn't do that again
My 2nd working in the mailroom at a local law office,my co-workers and I did almost everything for the lawyers including moving furniture. They were too cheap to hire outside help.I learned the ins/outs of how a law firm operates. The pay was terrible no thanks
My last job I stayed the longest,27 yrs I did enjoyed it for the most part.I worked 3 days/wk as a pharm tech.I was hired to deliver narcotics to 16 nursing units incl all speciality units, e.g.MICU,GI Lab, ER. It was alot of walking/bending,paper work, was exhausted by the end of the week
If I went back to the hospital,I would prefer doing paper work,I had a system which worked out really well

Well I’m still working and I love what I do. Organizing is part of who I am and I’ve always loved to do it whether paid for the work or not!

But if I could hit the rewind button, I’d start over and be a dance instructor. Even now I do some informal instruction, and choreography just for fun, and dance every chance I get, but It would be heaven to to be fully immersed!

Yes, I'd love to do something different. My mother would have liked me to go into medicine, but I suspect that was just so she could claim 'bragging rights'. I think I might like to have been an aircraft pilot, especially here in Scotland. There are so many islands and remote communities that rely on air travel, and for some, this is how they commute to work every day. On one island, Barra, the airstrip is the beach and the flight timetable is determined by the tides. At least, the runway gets washed twice a day!
