If you're an Italian from South Philadelphia

I had the eggplant parmiggiano in an Italian Restaurant in Boston . It was great.

But I couldn't duplicate it at home.
I was able to copy paste the ingredients on that video, but couldn't find the directions. Will just wing it, the ingredients is what really counts.

From South Philly myself...born at Crozer hospital. Worked at 6th and Chesnut for a few years and drove the length of South Broad every day. I miss the Italian subs, Ed's Steaks and the Mummer's but not the Schuylkill Expressway! I'm not Italian but at least half of my friends were. You've never experienced a feast until you attend the South Philly wedding of an Italian groom to a Polish bride.

That's funny I was born and raised in South Philly and I lived near Broad st. Then about 2 years ago we moved and now we live close to Crozer Hospital. I'm Italian and my Husband is Irish so I know what you mean about the wedding of an Italian and a Polish person. 😀

Old man Nardo lived down the street. He needed bean poles for his garden. He told us that he'd give us a penny for each stick we brought him. That was big bucks back then. We must have gathered about 50 or so and took them over to his house. He picked them up and looked down each to see if they were straight. Over and over he would shake his head and say, "Assa no good...Assa no good...Assa no good." In the end, we got about eight cents. We left all the sticks there. The next day, about 40 of them were standing upright in his garden.

My small market town has a high proportion of Italians here, my neighbours are Italian... everyone is related to each other.

Before I moved here, I grew up in a city in Scotland which was literally half Celtic Scots/irish & Italian..., so aside from the American accent I can assure you that everything he says they Italians say here too... but in English with a strong Italian dialect . I love Italians... I lived in Northern Italy for a while back in the 90's..loved it...

Shortly after we moved to South Carolina, we were at a gathering where my wife had to make an announcement. She stood up to do so but everyone was talking so to get their attention, she said in a loud voice, "Yo, y'all!" That cracked me up.

You South Philly folks hang out with Frankie Avalon and Fabian before Dick Clark turned 'em into teenaged stars?
