It's been a whirlwind couple of weeks, I missed you all...Flew to Texas to visit and shop and drove back with my best old gal pal and her three poodles. We were about an hour from home when the air conditioning in her car went bonkers. Luckily, it was blowing semi cool air and it wasn't too hot out. We took it up to the service department on Monday, a week ago and they kept it all week and finally got the part this Monday. Progress moves very slowly around here. It was a big surprise when they told her it was under warranty, and no charge, as the part was somehow linked to the power train. She maintains she would have been charged for it in the city, as her car is technically out of warranty, except for the power train.

We spent the week junking around in some shops, being lazy, enjoying Happy Hour every day and lots of good eating for fun. One morning we ended up in the local breakfast stop, old geezer coffee spot and had fun just sitting and watching the local yokels come and go.

There were some hillbilly sightings for my city friend to marvel over. Especially since she is a very particular type that doesn't leave the house unless everything matches, hair perfect and make up on. By the time she left here though, she had abandoned her bra in the afternoon and actually went to town without makeup one day...that's progress. Next year I'll work on her going to town without that bra and no makeup!

We got a kick out of watching the Gangstas and the Poodies mix it up, with the Gangstas teaching the citified Poodies (complete with polished nails) how to be country dogs and what is the best stuff to roll in and eat. The Poodies had to come to terms with the fact that BuckBuckBuck doesn't take kindly to being chased and the cats are not too fond of it either. After a few rousing crows and hopping in the air flapping his wings at them, the Poodies got the message that BBB is a force to be reckoned with. The cats just made themselves scarce.

This was the third visit for one of the Poods, the second for another and the first for the third one. By the end of the visit they were mostly under control and in somewhat of a pack mindset, that is to say they were trustworthy enough to walk out on their own without being leashed, carried or penned up to have potty breaks.

I was glad to be home after a week in the big city, it seems crazier every year, and every year I say I'm not going back. The Arlington area is a giant sucking retail wasteland with major traffic congestion. There seems to be no end to the number of stores and restaurants they keep building, This has gone on for the last 15 years and seems to have no end in sight. It's a mystery to me how the economy can support so many huge retail stores, strip malls and restaurants.Yet everyone we went into seemed to be busy. Granted some come and go, but there is always two more to take it's place.

Now, it's back to the real world...had to mow the pasture this morning and the gardens are chock full of weeds, the house needs a cleaning after suffering the comings and goings of 6 dogs and 3 people. This will be a 2 day job that I'm not looking forward to.

Karma was shining down on me Saturday when my two Mexican friends must have taken pity on me and showed up on their own with weed eaters in tow and mowed the hill by the driveway and trimmed everything including the pasture fence line and the entire creek bank. It took the two of them about half an hour to do what it takes me all day or two to do. I made enchiladas and plied them with Sangria and Cervaso and mucho gracias.:pepper:

Flowers are bursting out finally, and I cut a nice bouquet this morning of gladiolas, sunflowers, rosemary and some wild flowers.

These are for you...hope you enjoy them!

Welcome back and thanks for the beautiful flowers. Sounds like you had a great visit with your friend. I love the weed eater patrol showing up unannounced. Good people are just plain . . . good. I know exactly how you feel about the giant sucking retail wasteland. I call it Anywhere USA...

Welcome back Ozarkgal, looove the flowers! :) Glad you and the gangstas had a fun time!

Thanks everyone for the nice welcome back, I really missed the forum...I'm still trying to catch up on some of the posts while I was AWOL...There's no place like home, and love to have company, but always am ready to get back to normal after a few days..it was really quiet around here as soon as the Poodies pulled out of the driveway. Hubby and I and the Gangsta's crashed and burned...BBB and the cats were able to let their guards down too.

I really appreciate the solid behavior of the Gangstas after living with 3 hyper Poodies for two weeks. They're kind of like playing a pin ball machine..you're never sure where they're going to bounce and land next.

TWH...the next time I make a trip I swear I am going to abduct you off that tractor and sneak you away for a girl party for a few days. :playful: The neighbor up the road baled his field two weeks ago and today it's higher than when he first cut it...looks like a good hay year anyway.

Boos Mom..nice to meet you too..hope you are enjoying the forum. LOL...not much of a firecracker anymore, more like a cherry bomb these days!
