I'm Getting A Kitchen Remodel & New Flooring Throughout

Congratulations @OneEyedDiva! We had our floors replaced after one side of our house flooded and warped the original hardwoods. We had a French Drain installed outside that takes the water out to the street.

We had our kitchen remodeled a year later and we also chose white, sparkly countertops. Of course, the sparkles don't show up in this pic. Our cabinets aren't trendy. They were originally white when the house was built in 1999. We just replaced the backsplash with subway tiles and added bright hardware. We have gray/green walls, so any color in the cabinets wouldn't work. BTW, I think you chose a great flooring! Sometimes our dark flooring makes the house dark but it is beautiful in the sun, just like our Bugsy!

Thank you for your input Doug. 🤗 That's a nice kitchen. I wouldn't do dark flooring myself because my kitchen is much smaller than yours, but it looks very nice with your cabinets and Bugsy! The cabinet design is similar to what I wanted when I had the kitchen remodeled the first time, but it was a deal and a fancier design would have made the remodel cost more. Those cabinets were good, sturdy wood though

@OneEyedDiva, while I'm not a hard tile fan what you are considering absolutely works. I'm with you, I don't like what they had in the Doc's office. Too shiny.

It almost sounds like you're like me, it's hard to make that final decision but once it's made, it's solid and no changing again.

Woman, because of what you said to Doug about your cabinets, I had to go back and look at your current ones. There are two option there, have new doors made. Or have someone add the trim like Doug has.

Mine were originally flat panel doors. Somewhere along the line someone added trim very similar to Doug's and you'd never know it.

Oh I liked the tile (the color, at least) in the doctor's office, just didn't like the gray furniture with it. Not all of the tile was as shiny as in the waiting area, but it was all the same color. There are several reasons I decided not to have the cabinets refaced. The main reason is that the sparkly granite would not look right with them either (IMO) and I really want that countertop. I think it would make me happy every time I see it. My sister, niece, granddaughter and I love glitter and bling. The kitchen needs a new look anyway and I guess I want to feel like I've got a (somewhat) new kitchen.
