I'm Going Through My Closet and Drawers Full of Yarn.

I don't want to. But I have clothes I haven't worn for years. Clothes that don't fit me. Yarn I have no plans for. I'm tired of it. Off to PAWS thrift it's going this week. Also some knickknack items.

And I didn't want to get rid of the cozy mystery books I bought new, but off they go. I won't read them again and plenty of others to read in the future.

Oh, I was just looking at my giant basket of yarn. Thinking about crocheting up some quick scarves to send to the shelter. I will never use it all.

There are hospital volunteers who knit hundreds of tiny hats and blankets for newborns. They'd appreciate your yarn.

Maybe call your local hospitals and ask.
Yes, that's true Murrmurr. I've knitted those too. It feels so good doing them and quick to knit up too.
......

If I've ever got spare balls of wool in inappropriate ply for babies left over, and if I can't use them for something else, I donate those to the charity shops, along with clothes too.

Funnily, I've been doing a clear out today of clothes I no longer like. Various charities drop bags through the letter box for donations, and I've put those clothese in one for collection tomorrow.
Luckily, I've not put it out tonight as it's just starting raining. Hopefully when I put it out early tomorrow morning, it will be dry.

Good for you! You'll feel so much better after that's done.

Co-incidentally, I've filled a Black trash bag today with donations for the charity shop... You all know I donate at least once a month..but this is the 2nd big bag in a fortnight..., I've already loaded it into the car ready to drop off tomorrow

This one has no yarn..I don't have yarn in the house, not being a crafter.. but it contains some ladies clothing..all in perfect condition... a couple of books, a couple of White mesh file holders..... and a few pieces of Bric-a-brac including a couple of passport holders

However during the school holidays people take the chance to clear out their homes.. and at this time of year many charity shops get inundated and don't take any donations ..so I may have to visit a few before offloading .. not my ideal because I have my favourites, but one does what one can in the circs

People on budgets really do rely on second hand items. Our PAWS thrift has good prices and items. It's a very popular store. I have to take things over during donation hours.

Whenever I clear out closets or drawers, I feel better. You will too.
It does help, yet I have too much still. I'm not done though. I may be done for this week and more next week.

I have a chair in the bedroom and a chest in the closet, both of which I don't want anymore. I'm not sure if any shops will pick up, being that I'm upstairs and I've heard thrift store/charity pickups are getting harder due to gas prices. If I ever move, I'll have those items left in the carport for pick up or give away.

Yes indeed Remy, been there myself. I got back on track eventually

My daughter was only 3 and we all know how fast kids grow. She was long baby, and always taller than her peers. She outgrew clothes and shoes so quickly. I wouldn't buy her 2nd hand shoes tho', so they were a big expense.

I used to go to a children's shop nearby where they only sold childrens clothing. It was a gem of a shop, so cheap (price wise). They were new clothes 'rejects' rather than 2nd hand, and I also used a lovely 2nd hand shop too.
TBH I don't think 2nd shops today are a patch on what they used to be. These days, clothes are just massed produced tat, but they are still a godsend for people in need.
