That they made a mistake when they issued me a refund. I placed an order for a Totes rain poncho which was shipped to the Amazon hub. I picked it up the day before the deadline. I got an email the next day saying my order was sent back because I failed to pick it up in time and I would get a refund. Checked my Amazon orders and sure enough, it said sent back, refund issued! How does that happen? I prefer to handle this via chat so that I will have a record of what transpired.

Has anything like this ever happened to you when you ordered from Amazon?

Not that in particular, no.... a few of my orders say "your order may be lost" but from individual sellers and I always received everything, so nothing needs to be done about it.

*BUT* your thread made me curious, @OneEyedDiva ... so I looked for a very old order I thought I remembered they never recorded properly, and I was right... found this:
Order placed
October 31, 1997
Total $44.30
Delayed, not yet shipped

Wonder what they'd do if I'd request them to ship it now? :ROFLMAO: Bottom line is that I had received the order 27 years ago just fine... it just wasn't entered into the system correctly. :giggle:

You are giving yourself good Karma!

The process took a little longer than expected. The Chat-bot went no further than saying a refund had been issued when I referenced the product I wanted to chat about. I couldn't even enter anything in the chat field. So I chose the option to receive a call from Amazon. They call pretty quickly. The first rep I spoke to said she had to transfer me to the billing department. Of course someone didn't pick up right away, but it wasn't as long a wait as with some companies. After the charge was reissued, I got an email confirming our conversation and thanking me for my honesty.
