For some reason I checked my spam folder and found the following email addressed from the FBI. I can't imagine how it ended up in my spam folder :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: Are there financial advisers out there who can help me with my new found wealth ?

Seriously...it's a shame that there are some who probably will respond to an email such as this. Aside from the absurd premise, there are so many grammatical errors that stick out.

Wow. Awfully rude that Josh completely ignores his conjoined twin, not even introducing him...or her.

I wouldn't trust a guy like that.

LOL, I haven't had one of that type for a long time.... ... but funnily enough I thought I was in the money today myself...not as much as you Mark , but decent enough to have a good dinner ..

I got a text from the DVLA..saying they'd been trying to contact me for the a long time, and this was my LAST CHANCE to claim, the £149.00 overpayment I'd paid on my car tax....


I'm not stupid when it comes to dodgy emails and texts, but they are becoming frighteningly realistic now...

I've been getting robot-voiced calls advising me that Microsoft owes me a partial refund on a program I purchase along with my new computer. Happens to be a Security Program they're referring to.

ehhh...keep the change.

Yes they are. I have seen some phishing scams that look very real at first glance.
 
Be VERY careful about opening this kind of trash in your E-mail. Quite often, when you open such things, out of curiosity, that puts a Trojan on your system, which can then begin to track your internet usage...especially any financial transactions or online shopping you might do...thus exposing yourself to future things like Identity Theft. If you DO view messages like this, make sure your Anti-Virus and Anti Malware programs are up to date.
 
I have received several emails from Bank of America stating that my account had to be closed because of suspicious dealings. They need my account number and SS to rectify this problem.

Oh...I never have had an account with B of A. Beware folks. They’re out there. :mad:

That was my thought as well... don't even open any suspicious email and/or attachment. I have seen in the past were I got a faux email from a friend were they hacked his email and sent a 'loaded' attachment.
 
Just for the hell of it, according to the area code, Ol' Jackson works out of the Newark, NJ FBI Office. Nothing shady about that.
The problem is they only need a few fish to bite. And I agree that just opening these type emails is risky for your computer. And I ain't no geek.
But IF you do get a check, my good buddy, pal.......

Good warning to all ! I am careful with such things but curiosity got the best of me on this one. Just had to see what the scam was. No attachments either or else I would have flushed it right away.
 
I got an email once from the "FBI" stating that child porn had been found on my computer and a warrant was being issued for my arrest. However.....if I would pay my "fine" in advance by clicking on this handy-dandy little button, all would be forgiven.

I compared the "FBI" website cover page with the REAL FBI website cover page and it was absolutely identical.....absolutely. I wonder how many people were scared out of their skivvies by that email. I just forwarded it on to the FBI....the REAL FBI.

That happen to me also. I got an email from a friend, but the text in it didn't sound like him at all. There was also an attachment in it he wanted me to check out. So I sent him a different email asking if he sent this one to me and he replied he did not. I got lucky on that one..

What happens is that they "clone" your email address list and send you messages appearing to be from your friends. I've received those before and the subject line is "Hey, good news!" and stuff like that. They figure that you'll definitely open an email like that. I mean, who doesn't want to hear "good news" from a friend?
