I'm just too sweet.

If you recall I was bit by a snake while pulling weeds in mamas flower and herb beds about a month or so ago, well guess what ?

After I watered about twenty minutes ago and put my hand inside her bushy daisy bed to pull a few weeds and immediately was bit by something.....it stung like the dickens.

My finger tip around the sting is already slightly swollen, red, hurting just a tad and I can see two little dots where what ever it was bit me......I'm thinking a spider of some sort but I'll be darned if I'll go back out and root around in the flower bed to find out for sure. :)

I've got a routine dermatologist appointment in about 60 minutes and I'll have him look at it and see what he thinks.

Ya think critters like to gnaw on me because I'm so sweet ? :)

Just got back, he looked at the wound area through a magnifying glass and pretty much said what I already knew that something had bit me......he said to keep a close eye on it and if it starts swelling, changing color etc. to come back in.

He did find five more spots on me that he didn't like the looks of on my back, forehead, and ear that he went ahead and froze......I'd certainly rather have them froze now than surgically removed later down the road.

It absolutely could be because you're sweet. I'd go with that if I were you. If you're going to be bitten, maybe you could find a lovely lady to bite you.

Update on the bites.

This morning there was quite a bit more swelling, to the point of throbbing, and discoloration with a white pustule present between the two dots / bites.

Not wanting to go back to the doctor for something I felt was minor or hear why I shouldn't from mama I waited till she went to work and then lanced the area.

I put a rubber band tightly around my finger and then installed and sterilized a new razor blade, in a Exacto knife, and my finger with alcohol and then made a small incision directly on the pustule. I then squeezed the area for several moments and was able to extract a fair amount of thick yellowish substance and I kept squeezing the area till nothing was coming out of the incision but blood......I thought for a moment that I was going to have to Super Glue the incision closed to stop the flow of blood but with pressure the bleeding stopped after a brief time.

I recleaned the area, applied a antibiotic ointment and then put a Band-Aid over the area.

The swelling has now gone down dramatically and there is no more throbbing so I think my home surgery has solved the problem.

When we lived in Florida I didn't do gardening. But the creatures there were horrendous. The most infected bite ever was a spider bite on an elbow. It took a few months for the original pain and infection to clear. Full healing took longer than that. May I recommend clearing any space with a rake or shovel before you reach...and triple gloves? While I respect the life of most creatures the huge spiders, centipedes, and snakes get mashed to pieces on sight.

Oh dear I'm glad it wasn't me you were operating on Ike :eewwk: I make a point of making sure I have gloves on before gardening now days ..I tend to get little Knicks that bleed for ages if I don't ..... I'm told it's your age if I mention it to doctors :)
