I just registered for this forum. Didn't know it was here, but I'm glad I found it! My husband and I just retired and we're thinking of living part-time in Florida. Does anyone have recommendations for locations or reasonable rental rates?

Welcome, cricketcat!

What is it that you're looking for in Florida? Near the sea/gulf? Out in the country? In a city? Apartment, house, park model?

Do you want "warm to hot" weather in winter or just warmer than, say, Buffalo?

I've lived in Central Florida for the last 39 years, but I also spend some time in the Florida Panhandle where I have family. Both locations have their advantages.

Welcome from a Floridian. My advice is to study a map, then come to an area that looks promising and do a short-term rental - month or two - to see if it's a good fit. Different parts of Florida differ from each other as much as they differ from whole other states. Good luck in your search.

Thanks for responding and sorry for being so long in acknowledging. We're looking for warm weather to get away from the cold from December to March. Something near water is preferable although everything I've looked at online so far is way too expensive. Price will help dictate where, I'm afraid.
