I'm not running a shipping or delivery service

I advertised this table on a local Facebook online selling site. In the ad, I stipulated that the buyer would have to pick up in person. So far I've had two requests - one wanted me to bring it to them, the other wanted me to ship it with no offer of paying for shipping.

I feel it up to the buyer to come and look, not the seller to bring it to the buyer. Also, I don't ship or I'd sell on eBay. Are people so lazy they can get in their car and drive 5 miles?

That happened to me recently on Freecycle!

I responded to a want from a young college student that needed a window air conditioner. I sent her an email letting her know that I had one that had not been used in a few years and that she was welcome to it. That kicked off a long series of questions wanting to know how big it was, how old it was, is it heavy, could I deliver it! I still have my air conditioner, LOL!!!

All you can do is grin and bear it!

I might be interested in your AC unit. The interior of my home is a light shade of violet. Can you paint it violet before I pick it up?

And can you ship it to Saudi Arabia? Express? I need it by next week.

Will you toss in your little table for free?

Even people that agree to come to me seldom show up and most do not respond to PMs or emails. The ones that do respond usually have the excuse that "I couldn't find your house." Jeepers, it's a huge Victorian house on the main street and the number is on the front post. I send them a photo of the house and a Google map and my phone number in case they get lost. Are people brain dead?

When I was giving away my antique oak pump organ, I put in the ad that it was large, very heavy and would take at least two strong men to get it in the back of a truck or trailer and that I was not able to help load it (I had my arm in a sling at the time following shoulder surgery).

So, I get a reply from someone (I assume it was a man...) to the tune of "Are you unable to help load it or are you just unwilling? Are you the type of woman who feels she doesn't have to do anything as long as there is a man around? Do you go through your whole life not doing things just because you don't want to?" It went on in that theme for quite a while. Needless to say, I didn't reply. But WTH?

That's a pretty table. I used to have a coffee table with the pie crust edges. When I put things on Craigslist or our local Facebook buy/sell/trade page I put "Uload and Uhaul" and it usually works out OK. We do have a lot of no shows though, I think that's just people that want the item but decide they shouldn't spend the money and don't bother to let you know.

I usually get replies asking for directions to my place, I only reply to PM's (don't post public) and ask for their cell number and also check their location on FB..
