WSJ: In Children, Risk of Covid-19 Death or Serious Illness Remains Extremely Low, New Studies Find. An excerpt:

Children are at extremely slim risk of dying from Covid-19, according to some of the most comprehensive studies to date, which indicate the threat might be even lower than previously thought.
Some 99.995% of the 469,982 children in England who were infected during the year examined by researchers survived, one study found. In fact, there were fewer deaths among children due to the virus than initially suspected. Among the 61 child deaths linked to a positive Covid-19 test in England, 25 were actually caused by the illness, the study found.
The three studies, by researchers in the U.K. reviewing its national health system’s medical records or pulling together data from other countries, were published on preprint servers Thursday. The studies haven’t yet been reviewed by independent experts and are preliminary.

I don't think there will be any mad rush to vaccinate children against this disease. There are enough problems getting the adults vaccinated, and it apparently isn't that serious a threat to children.

There's a study HERE that indicating children have a 99.995% covid recovery rate with only 2 deaths per million. Similar information was in Sky News.

I remain of the opinion that calls for sequestering, masking and/or vaccinating children are the brain farts of some really stupid/ignorant people,

Well, here's some real numbers about vaccinations and stupid people:

State vaccinations and IQ
Just so you know, IQ tests are highly subject to many variables and do not necessarily indicate stupidity or genius. Just google "unreliability of IQ tests". The basis of the article is , IMO, junk and seemingly a classic example of the "post hoc ergo propter hoc" fallacy. when correlative conclusions are attempted. Also, I wouldn't be so quick to label unvaccinated people stupid, given what'w being learned about mRNA vaccines. The writer seems to be the stupid one here for going down this road.

lol - blah, blah, blah. Here is your comment about stupid people and vaccinations -

"I remain of the opinion that calls for sequestering, masking and/or vaccinating children are the brain farts of some really stupid/ignorant people"

I was just responding to that little pearl of wisdom. The article doesn't call unvaccinated people stupid, they just point out the correlation between statewide average IQs and vax levels. Plus the authors of the article had actual data to use, not some meaningless rant about "brain farts", which your comment certainly was.

Try again.

OK, so you posted what somebody else thinks is a stupid article and don't like it when called on it. We can all relate to that. PS: I think you're the one mentioned "stupid people" when you said "Well, here's some real numbers about vaccinations and stupid people:".

You're not "calling me" on anything. Again, go read your own post, and get back to me. "I remain of the opinion that calls for sequestering, masking and/or vaccinating children are the brain farts of some really stupid/ignorant people,"

You were the first to bring up stupid/ignorant people, not me. I was just responding to your post.

Why do you keep trying to unsay what you said? You said and you own it.

LOL you can spin better than a whirling dervish. Our targets for named stupidity were different. Your inferred stupidity was to the unvaccinated. My inferred stupidity was to those who wanted to vaccinate children who didn't need it. Can you see the difference without getting defensive?

Just quoting you! And you are the one who got all defensive about the article I linked to. You were clearly triggered by it, as evidenced here in your response to that article:

So, once again, it isn't about me - I just posted a link to an article that provided factual information. You can keep trying to deflect, but your own words are all we need to see.

My moronic nephew also uses the vaccination issue to promote his "Holier Than Thou," "Smarter Than Thou" mindset.
It's really rather amusing - get the vaccine......feel superior. And let everyone else know how intelligent (and educated) you are. 😊

Getting back to the original topic.....our local area has had minimum problems with young kids getting this virus. Most school districts opted for "in home" learning during the peak of this pandemic, but are now planning to reopen the schools for normal classes, in another month, or so. Our Great Grandkids are all looking forward to resuming activities with their friends.

Missouri currently has one of the highest infection rates in the country, but the vast majority of cases are coming from the crowds gathering at the lake areas, and the tourist attractions in the SW part of the State....AND virtually None of those being infected have been vaccinated.

Yes, you know that none of those infected were vaccinated - 'cuz you interviewed all of 'em. That took real devotion! :ROFLMAO:

No...I'm just noting what the local hospitals are reporting to the local news media. My "devotion" is more towards trying to stay current with what is happening.....rather than engaging in Childish Sarcasm.

Well, here's some real numbers about vaccinations and stupid people:

State vaccinations and IQ
I'm highly skeptical about the number of people in any region of the US who've been given a reliable IQ test en mass. Where do those numbers come from? SAT scores, or actual reliable IQ tests? (I was unable to read the linked article unless I subscribed)

Seems to me the regions of the US where people are reluctant to get the vaccine are regions where you have a lot of people with a "screw you, feds" attitude. Nothing to do with IQ, and the media needs to stop assigning labels and pushing this extremely divisive narrative.

Testing positive and contracting covid are two different things. It seems it's really easy to test positive, yet not everyone who does test positive gets sick with covid. I'd like to see the stats on that.

Maybe the tests are flawed? Maybe we have kneejerk panicky reactions to a positive test result? I'm just thinking out loud so don't come after me. It is important to know the difference because they shut things down, force quarantines, impose mask mandates, etc. all because too many people test positive even though no one gets full blown sick or ends up in the hospital.

And at first, they admitted the tests have a 47% reliability rate. But now, they're "accurate."
And some of us still remember how many deaths were listed as Covid when Covid had nothing to do with the cause of death.

Well, if they can't sell enough vaccines with fear, they have to try shame. "Get the vaccine, or you're uneducated/stupid."
Haven't we heard that from some "educated" people here? 😂

Kaiser Permanente needed to do something about the lack of interest in flu shots, so a couple of years ago, they hung up a huge banner in front of their entrance:
"If you don't get a flu shot, you're making other people sick."
Yeah.....try guilt.

Jeebus.

Yeah, I'm pretty sick...of that crap.

I wonder why children who are supposed to be healthy would be on life support? It will be interesting to see what happens when school and fall weather kick in.

"In a tweet on Tuesday, State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs said there are 12 children in the ICU due to the Delta variant. Ten of them are on life support."
