Until this morning when her death was announced on ABC radio, I had never heard of Maya Angelou. When I heard this quote I knew I wanted to hear more about her.

Courage is the most important of all the virtues, because without courage you can't practise any other virtue consistently. You can practise any virtue erratically, but nothing consistently without courage.
Maya Angelou

Looking up other quotes, I now wish I had known this woman

Has anyone read her books or been influenced by her in some other way?

OK I'm going to admit it,I don't know anything about this Maya Angelou, but from all the tributes to her from the President down she must have been quite a lady.

I learned of Angelou through friends quoting her poems but I only learned about how tough she had it growing up yesterday listening to NPR. Made my troubles seem so small.
