In my opinion, The purpose of life is . . . . . . . . . !

It was developed for driving screws mechanically and rapidly as in drywall or machinery. A slot screwdriver just wouldn't work. It's hard enough to use a slot screwdriver by hand.
Keep coming up with outstanding answers like that, Camper, I'm going to start calling you Stanley!

The purpose of life? The underlying purpose. To procreate. It certainly is the drive to mate.

Observe nature. Salmon run upstream. Mate. And then die, leaving another generation to do the same thing.

I mean you can have fun and all that but in the meantime.

“All things summon us to death;
Nature, almost envious of the good she has given us,
Tells us often and gives us notice that she cannot
For long allow us that scrap of matter she has lent...
She has need of it for other forms,
She claims it back for other works.”
—Bishop Jacques-Bénigne Bossuet (1627-1704), “On Death, a Sermon”

I'll go with soul growth.

Why I want to keep doing it? Curiosity about how things turn out. There's always something new happening. When I lose interest, it's time to let it go.

And some appliances are put together using special screws so the average homeowner can't take them apart to fix them.

Carburator adjustments on new gas powered weed whackers are only adjustable with a special tool. At least you can find them on Amazon. No more screwdriver.

I suppose one purpose of life is so that we can experience death. I can't imagine how we could do that otherwise. Other than that, I suppose we each have to come to terms with what we are doing here and what to make of it.

I have a new goal, a new purpose. I want to live long enough that my grandson will ALWAYS remember me. Pass me down to his kids. That way, I'm still living. My son & I enjoy making fun of his granny, my mother. He will tell my grandson about my mother. She will still be living, too.

Yes and you need a pentalope screwdriver if you have an I phone you want to change the battery in. Also on Amazon. Apple is not happy with trying to extend the life of their I phones.

My collage biology professor told us that procreating is the only scientifically observable reason for our existence.

I would like to add a simple philosophical statement: To be at one with nature.
Was the professor you mentioned made of pieces of cardboard hung together like a Matisse work of art?:whistle:

My guess would be your professor was challenging you by his statement too, I.e. your belief systems, and presenting a seemingly profound statement. Its conclusion that none of us could possibly be here without the procreating of our forebears is hardly a revelation, and much else of a scientific nature has been theorised about our evolution you'd have to agree.
